Urinary Incontinence
Pudendal neuralgia is a chronic pain syndrome involving the genital region in both men and women. The pudendal nerve provides both motor and sensory fibers to the genital area from the anal and perirectal area up to the penis or clitoris. Symptoms include pain, especially burning, in the genital area. The symptoms decrease when sitting on a toilet seat. Patients note a change in skin sensitivity both increased and decreased. Pain with arousal, orgasm/ejaculation and erectile dysfunction is common. Urinary incontinence, urgency or frequency, as well as pain with bowel movement and constipation can occur. Women experience pain, often severe, with attempted intercourse. The condition is often disabling and prevents many normal activities.
Immunizations
We encourage you to be present for your child’s appointments to best provide medical information and signatures for immunizations. In the event that you must send your child with another adult, a permission to treat form is required. If a parent or guardian is not present, immunizations may need to be deferred.

Lung Cancer
St. Joseph Hospital Cancer Center has been designated as a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology. This designation recognizes St. Joseph Hospital’s commitment to practicing safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer. We offer an advanced Lung Cancer Screening Program, which includes a low-dose CT scan, community education and a personalized treatment plan for patients at high risk for lung cancer. Screenings are recommended for adults 55–80 years old who have a history of heavy smoking. Contact your primary care provider if you think you may qualify.

Dr. Flynn was elected to the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Council of Regents for Northeastern Pennsylvania, serving from 2000 to 2005. He was also a founding board member and treasurer for the Multiple Sclerosis Center of the Lehigh Valley. He is a senior fellow in the Panuska College of Professional Studies at the University of Scranton, where he has held a faculty appointment since 2003. Dr. Flynn was recognized as a visiting professor of public health at Saint Elizabeth University College of Health and Social Sciences in Bratislava, Slovakia, where he has taught graduate level courses in healthcare leadership and human resources. Dr. Flynn presently serves on the board of directors for the Front Door Agency, a Nashua-based homeless and housing resource center and chairs its Advocacy Committee. He also serves as President of the Board for the New Hampshire Guild of Catholic Healthcare Professionals. Additionally, Dr. Flynn is a member of the executive committee for the Greater Nashua Public Health Advisory Council.

Endocrinology encompasses the care and treatment of hormone-producing glands that regulate metabolism, growth and development, reproduction, sleep, mood and more. The body’s endocrine system includes the pancreas, the thyroid, parathyroid, pineal, hypothalamus, adrenal and pituitary glands, ovaries, testes and other organs which respond to, modify or metabolize hormones.

When you get services from an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, certain providers there may be out-of-network. In these cases, the most those providers may bill you is your plan’s in-network cost-sharing amount. This applies to emergency medicine, anesthesia, pathology, radiology, laboratory, neonatology, assistant surgeon, hospitalist, or intensivist services. These providers can’t balance bill you and may not ask you to give up your protections not to be balance billed. If you get other services at these in-network facilities, out-of-network providers can’t balance bill you, unless you give written consent and give up your protections.

Computed Tomography
At St. Joseph Hospital, our patients have access to Computed Tomography or CT scans. Hip Replacement
St. Joseph Hospital offers the anterior approach for hip replacement surgery. The anterior approach can result in less scarring, shorter recovery time, and fewer restrictions post-surgery than the traditional approach. The procedure uses a specifically designed hip positioning table called the hana® table. This provides patients with the ability to get back to their lives faster and are excited to have this choice in the convenience of their community.

Before joining SJH, Dr. Flynn served as a clinical administrator at Albert Einstein Medical Center (AEMC) in Philadelphia. Prior to this, he held executive positions at Temple University School of Medicine and Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN). During his career, Dr. Flynn served as the principle architect for the development and operation of LVHN’s Regional Heart Center, which was listed in U.S. News & World Report for Heart & Heart Surgery. He designed and opened two inpatient 24/7 hospitalist programs for LVHN and obtained Joint Commission accreditation for its Stroke Center. At Temple University, he expanded its Sports Medicine Program into the Philadelphia Archdiocesan High School network, embedding trainers into the schools’ athletic programs.
