Overall

I wanted to write to express how incredibly disappointing my first (and only) visit to Doctor John's was. About a week ago, I purchased a (very expensive) Lelo toy, after asking the sales representative the following questions:

1. How is the pricing at your store? Is it at least similar to the manufacturer's pricing?

--Sales associate's answer: Pricing is very fair--our Lelo toys don't sell for much more than at the manufacturer itself.

2. What if I don't like the toy?

--Sales associate's answer: There's no way you won't like this.

--To which I responded: But what if I don't? What if it doesn't work, malfunctions, etc.?

--She then responded: Don't worry, we'll take care of you.

I admit that I should have done my research and that I should have pressed for more specific answers. However, the vague answers, in retrospect, feel very dishonest and I feel taken advantage of.

Here's why:

1. The pricing is NOT similar. I paid $200 for the toy I purchased, and when I went on to the actual manufacturer's site, the toy was just $120. Other stores in town sold them for $130 (the Blue Boutique), and I even saw the exact same model and color for $87 on Amazon. I understand that Doctor John's has the right to price their products however they like, but when I specifically asked whether or not their pricing is competitive, I trusted that I'd receive an honest answer.

2. The product did not hold up to expectations and malfunctioned within one or two uses. Within a week, it was completely dead--no charging, no flashing indicator lights, nothing. When I called Doctor John's to discuss this issue, the sales associate more or less informed me that it was my responsibility to get in touch with Lelo--rather than her store's responsibility to make amends for selling me faulty merchandise. (I should also mention here that I have owned a variety of Lelo toys and each one of them has held up during years of use.) Perhaps if I had known about their "Absolutely no exchanges or returns" policy beforehand, this would not have come as such a surprise. (I most likely would not have purchased from their store at all, had I known.) But since the sales associate I spoke to before evaded all of my questions regarding their store's return policy, I was completely blindsided by their refusal to lift a finger to help me find recompense or a replacement product.

TL;DR: I feel that Doctor John's uses dishonest selling practices to peddle overpriced, faulty merchandise, and offers no avenue for discussion or reparations.

Very disappointed and feeling cheated--I feel like my trust has been broken and I feel that Doctor John's took advantage of my trust in them. I will be doing everything within my power to make sure friends, family, coworkers, and the online community at large knows about Doctor John's shady business practices.
