Insects and Spiders

Mosquitoes
Christmans Wildlife Services removes bats in a humane and safe way. People who are not well versed in correct removal techniques can kill hundreds of bats each year, which is illegal. Bats are protected by federal and state laws because bats are essential to our environment and valuable for insect control, especially mosquitoes.

Animal Control

Bats
The Little Brown and Big brown bat that is commonly known here in the Midwest. These bats roosts usually in homes and structures where they can enter through areas as small as a quarter of an inch. Other dangers associated with bats in structures are from their droppings or feces called guano, where the disease histoplasmostis can be found.
Moles
Moles create large mounds of dirt when they top soil is dry. These animals burrow deep underground and kick the dirt to the top creating a large mound with no visible entry. Most people think that they have fifty to one hundred moles tearing up their yard due to the amount of damage they can do. But in most cases, it usually one or two moles that are responsible for the damage in most residential size yards.
Raccoons
Remove all food and bird feeders to prevent this scavenging animal from frequenting your yard or property. Possums, like raccoons and skunks are extremely attracted to bird feeders.
Wildlife
Christmans Wildlife Services is the only nationally certified wildlife control service within a hundred mile radius of the Quad Cities. Christman’s is certified by the National Wildlife Control Association, otherwise known as NWCOA. Christman’s is also certified and licensed by the State of Illinois and the State of Iowa through the Department of Natural Resources.
Opossums
Coyotes
The smartest and most wary of all the animals, becoming more and more of the threat to urban areas through a large population explosion is the last few years. Coyotes have been know to feed on cats and small dogs in urban areas. Coyotes appearing to have the German Shepherd look are no means a pet an should never be approached by anyone not skilled in handling wildlife. Coyotes can be controlled in a number of ways depending on the situation and type of damage occurring. Trapping, fencing and other measures can be instituted to manage and control this animal.

Bird Control

Birds
Pigeons can be maintained an controlled on all buildings and structures in various ways. Depending on the building or structure will depend on the management technique. Usually on commercial structures where large flocks of roosting birds are causing problems specially netting can be installed to permanently remove these areas from becoming nesting spots. Christman’s Wildlife Services provides a wide range of services regarding bird control and the prevention of their damage.

Rodent Control

Rodents
Rodent proofing around the foundation of a home or structure is the best defense against chipmunks entering the building through small holes and cracks. It is usually necessary to trap and remove theses animals from around the foundation of a structure first, before sealing hols, cracks and other opening. In most cases this can be done in a few short days.
Squirrels
Squirrels run a close race for the number one nuisance animal in the country. They are notorious for chewing wiring in homes and structures in the attic once they enter, which probably makes the squirrel more destructive than any other animal in the country when it enters a home. This type of damage can cause fires and shorts.
Chipmunks
Cute and cuddly except for when they multiply around the foundations of homes and building. These animals also burrow small holes ranging anywhere from two to three inches in diameter, usually under sidewalks or around foundations,. This burrowing causes dirt to be unearthed under the structure, usually concrete or brick structures, causing it to sag, crack and collapse.
