Terry & Don’s Gymnastics

I've attended this place for a few birthday parties. While I like the overall flow of events and the variety of activities they guide the children through, I'm a little disappointed in their method of guiding the children through them. My child was attending a birthday party for a 3-year-old, and he was just turning 3 himself. But the instructors (especially the woman) would continually insist that he and others go through the course in a specified order ("go here, now there, now crawl through this tunnel don't walk around it" etc.) Unless they're playing in a manner that endangers other children, why not just let them move through the course any way they choose? Also, when it was time to move to the other side of the center with the foam block pit, I was VERY disappointed. My little boy was having fun jumping off the platform and landing into the foam block pit (as he was instructed) on his bottom. Instead of just letting him continue jumping and having fun the woman told him, "Now try to jump out as far as you can and reach for that white block way out there!" So he did as she said, and reached out for the white block, to do so he leaped out superman style with his arms extended and essentially did a belly flop in the pit which jolted his head back. He immediately started crying and holding his neck saying that it was hurting him. What did the woman do? Oh she simply said, "oh you need to be safer honey" and turned to me and said, "he shouldn't have jumped out on his belly." WHAT?! he only did what YOU told him to do! I was extremely upset in her lack of care or concern for a little boy who just hurt his NECK and her attempt to pass it off as being his own fault. I hope Terry & Don's Gymnastics reads this review and reevaluates how they handle things from now on. I doubt I'll be back for a birthday party, let alone sign my kid up for classes where I wouldn't be present.
