Ultrasound
Varithena (polidocanol injectable foam) is a drug/device combination that generates microfoam for ultrasound guided injection. Varithena improves the symptoms of superficial venous reflux disease as well as improving the appearance of varicose veins. It is the only FDA approved foam used to treat varicose vein problems.
MRI
An arteriogram may be performed to detect abnormalities of the blood vessels. An arteriogram is an X-ray of the blood vessels called arteries. It is performed to evaluate various vascular conditions, such as an aneurysm (a bulging, weakened area in the wall of a blood vessel), stenosis (narrowing of a blood vessel), or blockages. Other names for this procedure are angiogram and arteriography. Fluoroscopy is often used during an arteriogram. Fluoroscopy is the study of moving body structures â€” similar to an X-ray "movie." A continuous X-ray beam is passed through the body part being examined, and is transmitted to a TV-like monitor so that the body part and its motion can be seen in detail. During an arteriogram, a dye is injected into an artery making the arteries visible on X-ray. The development and improvement of diagnostic procedures such as computed tomography (CT scan), ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have greatly expanded the diagnostic capabilities of the radiology department. An arteriogram may be performed in conjunction with another type of diagnostic procedure such as CT, MRI, or ultrasound, which provides greater detail to the doctor.

Born and raised in Charleston, SC, David studied Biology at College of Charleston and graduated from the Roper Hospital Radiologic Technology Program.

Chemotherapy
A vascular access procedure involves placing a thin hollow plastic tube, or catheter, into a vein to permit drawing blood tests, and giving medications, fluids and nutrition, or transfusions directly into the bloodstream, over a period of weeks, months or even years. A port, or subcutaneous implantable catheter, is placed entirely under the skin. There is a small reservoir, a plastic or metal cylinder usually placed just below the collar bone, connected to a catheter that enters the jugular vein in the neck. These may stay in for months to years, or permanently. They are accessed with a needle puncture through the skin into a silicone membrane in the top of the reservoir port. The most common use of a port is to give chemotherapy medications that must be delivered into a very large, or central, vein where there is a large blood flow to dilute the medicine.

General Surgery
Dr. Borowicz is a double board certified vascular and general surgeon. He graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his Medical Degree from Wake Forest University. He trained in general surgery at MUSC and attended Vanderbilt University for his Vascular Fellowship. Dr. Borowicz has been in private practice in Myrtle Beach since 1996 and has privileges at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and Grande Dunes Surgery Center. Dr. Borowicz and his lovely wife Ashley are the proud parents of two children, Olivia and Brice, and have recently welcomed their first grandchild, Hudson. In their spare time they enjoy traveling to new and exciting places.
Gangrene
Ultilizes obtained arterial waveforms and pressure of the arms and legs to determine if arterial blockage (stenosis) is present. The ankle or wrist pressures are compared to the upper arm pressure in a ratio called the Ankle/Brachial Index (ABI) or Wrist/Brachial Index (WBI) which indicate normal, mild, moderate or severe arterial disease. Severity of arterial disease can manifest in symptoms ranging from leg pain to non-healing ulcers or gangrene.

Our state-of-the-art angiography suites, vascular lab, and vein center allows us to diagnose and treat a variety of vascular diseases and issues.

Plastic Surgery
For decades laser and light based procedures have been the recommended solution in correcting all kinds of skin imperfections such as wrinkles, discolorations, sun damage etc. Cosmetic treatments became more socially accepted when skin rejuvenation, a low-level light therapy to non-aggressively treat superficial skin conditions, was introduced in 2001. This treatment required multiple treatment sessions, and results were gradual--but there was little to no downtime per treatment. Then in 2004 the plastic surgery movement began and people began to demand faster and more comprehensive results, like the kind you get with face lifts. At this point, fractionated laser therapies were introduced, and although considered non-surgical, these were aggressive treatments that still required weeks of downtime. More importantly, these treatments were not recommended for all skin types due to possible complications. Today to fill the void between non-aggressive and aggressive while providing a safe and effective treatment for ALL skin types a brand new treatment called Sublative Rejuvenation is introduced in the Summer of 2009.

Lesions
Excision refers to removal of a skin lesion by completely cutting it out. Lesions are lumps or bumps such as moles, cysts, lipomaâ€™s (fatty lumps). Most are benign (non-cancerous). Excision refers to removal of a skin lesion by completely cutting it out. Most lesions do not cause serious problems, but you may want to have them removed due to them being painful or unsightly. Surgery is recommended to remove skin lesions that show any sign of turning cancerous or to diagnose the cause of the lesion.
