Cryotherapy
Skin cancers that are detected early can often be treated by curettage and electrodesiccation, cryotherapy, surgical excision, or radiation. However, if the tumor is in a cosmetically sensitive area, has been previously treated, is large, is not clearly defined, or arises in a scar, Mohs surgery offers the highest potential for complete removal of the cancer, while sparing the surrounding healthy tissue. Mohs surgery has superior cure rates to surgical excision with frozen sections. In Mohs surgery, the tissue is processed so that every cell along the margins is examined. With traditional frozen sections only a few samples of the whole specimen are examined, with the hope that the samples represent the entire tumor.
Rheumatology
Dr. Maceyko was in private practice in Pennsylvania for over 20 years before he joined the Division of Dermatology at the Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, where he headed the section of dermatology at the Allegheny Health Network Autoimmunity Institute, a tertiary referral center for patients with autoimmune disorders. He was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award by the Fellows of the Allegheny Health Network West Penn Hospital Rheumatology Fellowship Program. Dr. Maceyko is board-certified in dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Maceyko practices general dermatology, evaluating and treating patients of all ages with common conditions like acne, rosacea, dermatitis, psoriasis, hair loss, and skin cancer. He has a special interest in complex medical dermatology including autoimmune disorders and diseases that affect the mouth.
Pediatric Care
Sofia relocated to the D.C. area after practicing in Pediatrics for four years in Florida and Texas. In 2011, she was trained in medical and cosmetic Dermatology in the D.C. area and has been enjoying the field ever since. Sofia recently moved to South Florida and is grateful to be back by the water. Sofia loves spending time with her husband and three young children. She enjoys traveling and has explored Europe and Taiwan. Sofia and her husband are foodies and coffee lovers, who will travel for both. Internal Medicine
She grew up in Massachusetts and attended college at Harvard University. She worked for two years at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute before attending medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed an Internal Medicine Internship at St. Vincents Hospital in New Yorkâ€™s Greenwich Village before starting her residency in dermatology at Cornell Universityâ€™s New York Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where she served as chief resident. She completed her training with a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. During her career, which spans more than two decades, she has performed over twenty thousand Mohs procedures.

This is also not an easy question to answer as it depends on how the wound is repaired. Following your surgery we will give you written wound care instructions including what supplies you will need. We can also give you a few days worth of supplies to last you until you are able to visit the pharmacy.
Otolaryngology
Dr. Burchhardt completed her undergraduate studies at Rice University and earned her M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine. Following her residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at Wayne State University, she completed the distinguished American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) fellowship program at Vanderbilt University. She is double board-certified in otolaryngology â€“ head and neck surgery, and in facial plastic surgery with the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Mohs Surgery
Mohs surgery is performed in the office under local anesthesia. As the procedure will take several hours to complete, we recommend that you eat before your procedure, bring a snack, bring reading material, and bring a friend or family member. Although you will be physically able to drive yourself home, you may be tired and have some swelling.
Reconstructive Surgery
A Mohs surgeon is a specially trained dermatologist who removes skin cancers and is also speically trained as a pathologist and reconstructive surgeon. The American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology (Mohs College) (www.mohscollege.org) is the oldest professional organization of physicians trained in Mohs micrographic surgery. To be accepted as a member of the Mohs College, a physician must complete a three-year residency in dermatology or a related field, plus a one- or two-year fellowship approved by the Mohs College that includes extensive training in pathology and reconstructive surgery. Physicians who have completed a Mohs College approved fellowship will, by virtue of their rigorous training, possess the skills and expertise necessary to perform Mohs microgaphic surgery at all levels of complexity.

Jennâ€™s journey into medicine began as a firefighter/paramedic 25 years ago. She attended South University and received a degree as a physician assistant in 2005 and subsequently earned a Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska with a focus on dermatology studies. Jenn has practiced dermatology in Nevada, Virginia, and Florida, with additional practice experience specializing in allergy and immunology, urgent care, and functional medicine. She is fellowship-trained and board-certified with the American Academy of Anti-Aging.
