My foot is broken and I am in considerable pain. Nevertheless, none of the staff, including the GP I saw gave proper instructions on how my husband and I could find them in the building. They sent us on a wild goose chase, twice, which meant I had to traipse around on pavement, cement, and hard floors. After seeing me, and even after they knew my foot was broken, they did not offer me a wheelchair. My husband had to leave me in one of the long hallways at INOVA, to find a chair and finally retrieve me. The way I feel today, I worry that all that walking on a broken foot may have damaged me further, as I have experienced sharp pains in my leg and elsewhere, radiating up from the foot. I have been in bed, again, but for vital, unavoidable activities. I see the podiatrist/foot surgeon recommended on Saturday. This surgery will require wearing a foot cast for up to 4 months, provided I do not have more injuries from walking around without proper assistance!
