I was an Ortho-K user for 10 years, (contact lenses that change my prescription by warping my cornea at night temporarily), and I've finally gotten sick of using them every night. If I missed a single night with them, then I would be unable to see the next day and this was driving me crazy. Dr. Chynn has been great, scheduling multiple exams to make sure my eyes were ready for surgery and not moving forward until everything was ready to go. I felt really safe here and I love that my procedure is the "SafeSight" procedure, where they don't cut a flap in my eye! I was really worried about safety, which was the reason I've waited so long. After all, these are my only two eyes and I'm the one who has to live with them! Dr. Chynn put all my fears to rest, and I'm really satisfied with the care I've gotten!

I stumbled on this office, when I wasn't educated about the difference of any laser treatments. I thought LASEK, LASIK, PRK.... is all the same thing. It is not ! Although Park Avenue LASEK has been my first stop, it was also my final. Upon in query I have met with very knowledgeable MDs at this office, and the staff told me about their personal experiences having done the LASEK. I even met the surgeon Dr. Emil Chynn, and had a chat with him. Turns out he’s a real nice guy, an extreme perfectionist too. I liked the calm aura of his office space and the professionalism of the OR and testing rooms. It was quite shocking to me though how anyone can spend 20 years studying in college. He has finished Harvard, Columbia, NYU, and Dartmouth... Experience and knowledge are the most important aspects to me when choosing a doctor. I defiantly got my values worth and a year post LASEK I see perfect! The website has a lot of valuable information http://www.parkavenuelasek.com/#515. I very much recommend Dr. Chynn to be you LASEK surgeon .

I found Dr. Chynn through a google search. He seemed to have good credentials and satisfied patient reviews despite some negatives reviews about his manners and conduct of business. The staffs at Park Avenue Lasek are cool and professional. After my first initial visit, I decided to schedule my surgery for their Diamond package which includes a lifetime maintenance check up and whatever corrective procedures needed. A few weeks later after my exam, someone told me that a patient of Dr.Chynn had a horrible experience with a bad result where her vision worsened than before the surgery. Being the educated consumer that I am, I asked Dr. Chynn about this case. He was very professional and HONEST about addressing my concerns. He didn’t try to fluff but told me every clear about all the complications involved with the different vision correction surgeries. My eyes are very important to me, and I am confident that I am in good hands. A lot of the negative reviews online is in regards to Dr.Chynn’s manner or how he treats his fellow MDs and staffs, and the pricing but not about his actual integrity of his work. Here is my take on Laser vision corrective surgery. It is an expensive procedure and it’s a cooperative effort. If you do not have insurance, you should save up for it so you can properly fund it. It is your eyes for heaven’s sake. Why would you want to scrimp on such an important sensory function? Secondly, post Op care is half of the battle. The better you follow the instructions the better results you will have. If you are negligent with this your results will suffer variably. My surgery date is August 24th. I will keep you all updated!

I had laser surgery with Dr. Chynn and I am very satisfied with my experience which was almost 2 years ago. I read the reviews about him before going to his office and was impressed with all of the positive reviews.Dr. Chynn is a brilliant surgeon and very caring doctor. He is a perfectionist, and meticulous and expects the same from both his staff and his patients. Considering that He is very personable, pleasant, and caring doctor and on the other side being a strict disciplinarian with both his staff and patients for making sure they follow directions. He does everything he can to make sure patients receive the best and safest laser surgery available in New York City. LASEK, not the older more risky Lasik. Visit the center, educate yourself with a free consultation and appreciate how lucky you will be to receive the best treatment possible to live life with perfect vision absent the need for glasses and contacts.

Dr. Chynn is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, and his staff is EXTREMELY attentive and completely focused on the well being of the patient, specifically their vision. Dr. Chynn performed the original LASIK procedure on more than a dozen of my close family and friends more than a decade ago, so I had no hesitation choosing his center, park avenue laser for my vision correction. One can obviously feel very comfortable with an eye surgeon if he's been 100% successful when the surgeon has been performing LASIk for over a decade, and was one of the first to do so. When I went in for my consultation, I was shocked to learn that my vision was actually -11.24, according to the computer scans (which are very accurate). My vision tested at best a 20/40, and I was warned that I might not see 20/20 post op. The staff here conducted several tests to confirm my eye condition and vision. Everything from the pre-op visits to the 2 month post op has been perfect, and I am a very critical person. They always accommodated me, even if I missed or arrived over an hour late for my appointments. Now 2 months post op, I have better than 20/20 vision, all thanks to this team of physicians and staff. I visited several laser correction centers shopping for the best price, and Dr Chynn was certainly the lowest. The most annoying thing is that laser correction centers run their practices only as businesses. They always BS you and try to sell their services to you like they were selling ice to an eskimo. Marketing is TOTAL BULLSHT! Great products sell themselves, but do need some product awareness. Although Park Avenue Laser builds their business on product awareness and referrals, as opposed to BS Marketing. Dr. Chynn does have an MBA from NYU Stern, which is great since most physicians are known to make the worst financial decisions. All in all, Dr Chynn and Park Avenue Laser have provided me with a priceless gift, which I got for a bargain. Thanks!!!!

I got my surgery done April 1, 2010 and it was a great experience. My vision is vastly improved from what it was. Looking around the world, everything is so much clearer. Dr. Chynn is very knowledgeable and skilled and the entire process is really a great deal. I just wish I got the surgery done sooner. If your eyes are perfect now, you really take it for granted. Before my surgery, I lived in a myopic world where everything beyond a meter was either blurry (when I wasn't wearing glasses) or warped (when I was wearing glasses). Dr. Chynn cured my astigmatism and the world looks a lot better now. Check out one of the live operation seminars they have every couple of weeks and you can learn everything you want to know. After I attended one, as soon as the patient was done, I wanted to say "move over, my turn!" and lay down under the laser.
Check out the ParkAvenueLaserVision.com site.
Thank you, Doctor Chynn.

Provided by Doctor.comI went to several centers for LASIK, but didn't understand that there is a newer, safer procedure called LASEK that Dr. Chynn specializes in, where no flap is cut into your eye. Dr. Chynn was actually a resident at Harvard when 2 surgeons there invented LASEK, which may be why he is an "early adopter" to this no-cut, no-flap, safer technique. Dr. Chynn was also the 1st surgeon in NYC to have LASIK himself over a decade ago. Park Ave Laser is also the only center where all full-time employees mus...

Provided by Doctor.comThe woman Jade at the front desk is rude and unpleasant. Dr. Chynn is a money hungry man who is all about selling. This place radiates poor ethics and will take advantage of anyone they can. I saw on my chart when I went in for a consultation that it says on the superbill something like, "charge more aggressively people we know (because they won't complain, and to charge less aggressively for people who we don't know or who are complainy." This is seriously the type of shady business they have i...

I had my Epi-LASEK surgery the Wednesday before Memorial Day (5/20/09) so I could heal during the long weekend, and be back at work that Tuesday. It was done at Park Avenue Laser Vision (www.parkavenuelaser.com) to correct my Rx of OS -3.25 and OD -3.75. I posted a YouTube video (username: "herbrock17") The POV shown was not the DVD Dr. Chynn provides you of your surgery from the camera attached to the laser. My DVD was accidentally ejected by one of the receptionists...I'm actually glad my wife was with me in the O.R. recording everything with our camcorder...from being prepped for surgery, everything in between, to the end. I like this better actually!!
How did I come to choose having my surgery at Park Avenue Laser Vision, you ask?? I did a TON of research prior to selecting Dr Chynn. First was the no cutting, no flap LASEK procedure (different from LASIK).
Second was Dr Chynn's credentials (Dartmouth, Columbia, Harvard, Emory, NYU...and he's a member of MENSA)!!
Third is he has 12,000+ cases under his belt with ZERO LAWSUITS for complications... compare that to a certain other LASIK practice that advertises on NYC radio stations, but who has almost 100 pending lawsuits for flap complications, etc.
Fourth, at Park Avenue Laser Vision are DOCTORS who went to medical school who do your eye tests and CustomVue scans versus the TECHNICIANS at other practices who have not gone to medical school.
And the list goes on of why me and my friend chose Park Avenue Laser Vision. The only CON ("fair and balanced" review) is the recovery time for LASEK (no flap- your epithelial cells need to regrow) takes about 4 days longer than LASIK (with a flap and where 90% of complications occur). Just imagine if you play contact sports and your flap gets dislodged!?!?! Or if you're at the local bar and [insert your favorite sports team here] wins, and the person next to you cheering in excitement elbows you in the eye!?!? AREN'T YOUR ONLY PAIR OF EYES WORTH IT????
Another CON (again, "fair and balanced"...) is the Post-Op meds cost me about $160 out of pocket, and that's with my firm's Caremark Rx insurance.
Myself, had my surgery on a Wednesday before Memorial Day (5/20/09) after work...I went back to work on the following Tuesday. I also was mentally preparing myself for SCRATCHY SAND-LIKE PAIN for a few days after surgery, and had NONE OF THAT!! The worst of it was 1-2 days of the feeling of a folded contact lens underneath my eyelid.
Feel free to email or contact me if any additional questions.
Peace all!!
