A few weeks ago we purchased a 1975 Yellowstone Camper with the intention of restoration. We stopped by Riverfront Campground in Niles, Michigan to inquire about a seasonal site. The owner happened to be inside the office along with a lady working behind the desk. I was very upfront and honest about the age of the camper and told them we would be doing lots of work before bringing it to the campground. The owner even talked to me about it being a vintage camper. Since the season had begun, he told the clerk that we would be monthly rather than seasonal and told me we would be in #13 (actually the sign said #113). We thanked him and the lady came from behind the desk to show us around the camp.
Of course the work took longer than expected and I contacted the campground to let them know we would be arriving a week later. The owner answered the phone and proceeded to tell me that we could not bring a 40 year old camper to his campground. That if he let me bring my piece of “Junk” to his campground, that others would want to bring their “junk” too. I asked why he didn't tell me this when I came to his office? I told him we were working hard to make the camper look nice...he proceeded to say OK, he would see us in a couple weeks. Minutes later he called me back and said again, that I couldn't bring my “junk” to the campground. I am totally dumbfounded by the treatment received by the owner of Riverfront Campground. He is definitely no friend of the vintage camper crowd.
