It operates under the Volunteers of America organization, a national human services organization dedicated to bringing immediate relief to those in poverty and has been serving citizens of Greater Los Angeles since 1896. Fortune Magazine has named it one of America s Best-Run Charities . Its programs include children and families, youth and education, elderly, recovery and rehabilitation, homeless and low-income housing.
