In the past, Dr. Desai served as clinical fellow and Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. His awards include two “Active Teacher in Family Medicine” awards, from the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2007 and 2011. He is proud to volunteer as a medical consultant for indigent patients through the Northridge Hospital Foundation.

From strictly a volume of cases standpoint, our group performs more colonoscopies than any other group. We have calculated our polyp detection rate and once again we have the highest rate. We offer direct access to your screening colonoscopy with minimum downtime. We can schedule your appointment directly over the phone or the internet. You are then mailed or emailed your prescription and instructions. With this special program, you only miss one day of work (the day of the procedure). The next day you are back to work. This unique program ensures that you are back at work the very next day after your colonoscopy. Your total time off from work is exactly one day...the day of the procedure itself.
Endoscopy
Our GI physicians not only perform their procedures at ambulatory surgery centers (endoscopy centers), we are also the ones who have established the endoscopy programs and guidelines at these centers. In addition, we are also the directors of the centers where we perform our cases. This ensures that our patients receive care at the highest and safest level. Recent medical industry studies have shown that the disciplined application of certain safety practices can have a dramatic impact on patient outcomes and, consequently, overall health care costs.

Cancer Care – Collaboration with primary physicians, surgeons, and radiation oncologists ensures that you receive the best possible treatment and outcome.

Ultrasound
Advanced endoscopic techniques include diagnosis and palliation of tumors (e.g., colon cancer), evaluation of tumors with endoscopic ultrasound, and treatment of tumors with laser photocoagulation. A GI physiology center provides esophageal, pancreatobiliary and anorectal motility, 24-hour esophageal pH, and tests of intestinal absorption, gastric and pancreatic function. An endoscope is a digital fiber optic camera that allows a gastroenterologist to visual the gastrointestinal tract to diagnose and treat, manage or biopsy lesions. The endoscopes we use are manufactured by Olympus. The accessories we use are manufactured by Wilson Cook, Boston Scientific and Olympus.
