Nutritional Counseling
When boarding at Oak Ridge Animal Clinic, a doctor is nearby to address any problems that arise before they become major issues. When our kennel staff notices problems such as decreased appetite, loose stool, or vomiting, they will notify a technician who will contact you for permission to have a doctor examine your pet. If the doctor finds it necessary, they will call you to authorize any treatments. If the problem is serious and we are unable to contact you, we will proceed with treatment at the normal fee. Therefore, it is very important to leave a working contact number so we can reach you in an emergency and discuss any potential treatments.
Comprehensive Examination
Dental disease can affect other organs in the body: bacteria in the mouth can get into the bloodstream and cause serious kidney infections, liver disease, lung disease, and heart valve disease. Oral disease can also indicate that another disease process is occurring elsewhere in the pet’s body. A thorough physical exam combined with appropriate laboratory work can determine if this is the case.
Our veterinarians adhere to the highest standards of care for all surgical procedures. We place the utmost emphasis on pain management to ensure your pet is safe and comfortable throughout the treatment process. Using advanced technology, our highly trained veterinary technicians monitor your pet's vital signs and care for them throughout recovery. We believe that keeping our patients safe and comfortable before, during, and after surgery is of the greatest importance and a vital component of your pet’s care.
Dental cleanings are necessary because bacteria and food debris accumulation around a pet’s teeth leads to deterioration of the soft tissue and bone surrounding the teeth. This decay results in irreversible periodontal disease and even tooth loss.
Spaying or neutering your pet can help them live a longer, healthier life, minimize behavior problems, and help control the population of unwanted pets. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, nearly 12,500 puppies are born in the United States each hour, contributing to thousands of euthanasia procedures and millions of stray animals. Spaying or neutering your pet ensures that they will not contribute to these numbers.
Oak Ridge Animal Clinic offers boarding services as a convenience to our clients and their pets. When your pet stays with us, we will care for them like our own furry family members. We will do our utmost to make your pet's stay happy and comfortable, and our highly-trained staff will quickly bring any issues to the attention of our doctors—so you can relax knowing your pet is safe and healthy.
Grooming
The recommended frequency and type of grooming service varies widely based on your pet’s breed, age, coat type, and other individual factors. Long-haired dogs should be groomed every 6-8 weeks to avoid matting, and all pets benefit greatly from regular brushing at home to stimulate the skin, distribute oils, and remove dead skin, shed hair, and any external parasites.
