The family dentist will take an impression of the abutment and consult with the Laboratory Technician in regard to shape, size, and color of the desired crown or cap. This is the final metal piece to which the white dental crown or cap is cemented.
Bridges
We typically use teeth in a day to support dentures, but we can also provide same-day crowns and bridges. Our team of surgeons will collaborate with you, your primary dentist, and a dental lab to ensure optimal results. After your surgery, we can attach a temporary restoration. Though intended for the short-term, it will look very realistic, and it will restore most of your oral function. It is important to understand that as you heal, you will need to exercise some caution, avoiding foods that are difficult to chew. Once you have healed completely, your family dentist will attach your permanent denture. At this point, you will not typically have any dietary restrictions.
Restorative Dentistry
We offer several types of dental implants so that we can offer this advanced treatment to the greatest number of patients. With our expertise and experience, we will select the right type of dental implant to provide you with a strong, long-lasting restorative dentistry solution.

Dentures
If most of your teeth are beyond repair, we can perform a full mouth extraction in preparation for dentures. We can also reshape your alveolar ridge, removing excess tissue or projections that might prevent your denture from fitting securely. We will collaborate with your general dentist to ensure the best possible fit for your restoration.

Dental Implants
SIMPLANT® will use images of your jaw to produce a surgical guide. With this physical template, your practitioner can move seamlessly from treatment planning to surgery. SIMPLANT® is compatible with over 100 types of dental implants. Meanwhile, the initial images will display on a chairside computer, so you can ask questions and stay fully informed about your care every step of the way.

Jaw Surgery
If you have an acute overbite or underbite, or if you suffer from severe TMJ disorder, you may benefit from jaw surgery. In almost all cases, we will collaborate with your orthodontist. We will perform the most conservative treatment possible, keeping any future orthodontic treatment in mind. Using our i-CAT® cone beam scanner, we can design a precise and personalized treatment plan.
Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr. Nagy graduated from the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 2010. She joined the OSST team in August of 2010. She has enjoyed being an active participant in several of the local dental societies and study clubs including second district, Roane County Dental Society, Anderson Dental Society, Cumberland Dental Society and the Manhattan Study Club. She also enjoys her affiliation as volunteer faculty with the Oral and maxillofacial training program at UT in Knoxville.

Dr. Andrew Cheung completed his undergraduate studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas, in 1997. He received his dental degree from The University of Michigan in 2001 and completed postdoctoral training in a hospital-based General Practice Residency in 2002, followed by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency from The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville in 2006. Dr. Cheung is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a Gratis Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, a guest lecturer for the University of Tennessee Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and University General Dentistry (General Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville). He maintains a private practice with Oral Surgery Specialists of Tennessee and has specific interests in office-based dentoalveolar and implant surgery, navigation/guided surgery and associated emerging technology. Dr. Cheung and his surgical partners at OSST have been asked to co-author a few chapters in the Fonseca Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery textbook and have published articles in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
