Pediatric Care
Doctor Mohan is a 1970 graduate of the Government Medical College in Patila, India. His residency training in Pediatrics was at Michigan State University. Dr. Mohan completed his Fellowship in Pediatrics at M.S.U. in 1976 and completed his Allergy and Immunology Fellowship at Medical College of Wisconsin in 1981. He is a Fellow fo the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Mohan retired December, 2017. He enjoys stopping by the office for a cup of coffee because he has nothing else to do.
Primary Care
Referrals/Prior Authorizations: Some insurance carriers require prior authorization from your primary care physician. Failure to obtain authorization will result in no coverage or reduced coverage for services. Please make sure your prior authorization is in place before your appointment.
Ear Infections
Allergies can contribute to asthma, rhinitis, eczema, hay fever and urticaria (hives). Symptoms include runny nose, or eyes, wheezing, nasal and/or chest congestion, sinus headaches, frequent colds, cough, itching, frequent ear infections, sneezing, sore throat, burning and itchy eyes. Asthma is a complex disease of the airways and allergic reaction is a major contributing factor.
Emergency Care
Emergencies: If you require care after our normal office hours, please call our answering service at 517.349.0027 to reach the on-call allergist. If you cannot wait for a call back, dial 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency room.
Immunizations
Mild reactions, including pain at the injections site, fever, aches, and fatigue can occur. These reactions are not serious, and are similar to those seen with other immunizations, e.g., the shingles vaccine.

Internal Medicine
It’s very likely that your ENT has received less than two weeks of allergy training, which would need to cover all possible allergens, type of allergic reactions, how to test for allergies, how to interpret those results, and how to best treat the patient. All of that in two weeks for most ENT doctors offering allergy services. Yes, he or she receives accreditation but from associations within the field of ENT. Compare that to accreditation received from the American Board of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. A board certified allergist receives two years of training (not two weeks) in the diagnosis, management and treatment of allergic disease. That specialized training is in addition to his or her pediatrician and/or internal medicine accreditation. An allergist’s main focus and expertise is on your allergies. From a board certified allergist you will receive care that is careful, thorough and knowledgeable as it relates to your allergies.

Eczema
We Now Offer Phototherapy! Phototherapy is used to treat urticaria (hives) and eczema. This service is covered by most insurance plans. Please call our office for more information.

Allergies
Because of the prevalence of allergies, many ENTs offer allergy testing; but this is where the main difference between an allergist and an ENT exists.
