Sinusitis
Alone means general inflammation of the sinuses regardless of the cause. Acute sinusitis usually lasts about 2 weeks on average and can be managed with OTC decongestants, anti-inflammatories or antibiotics, if appropriate. If it lasts three months or occurs several times a year, different approaches and further interventions are often needed.

Hypothyroidism
Unfortunately, though, routine, loud snoring often indicates obstruction or resistance in the upper airways as seen with OSA. Snoring and OSA are frequently associated with conditions that narrow the upper airway, including obesity, chronic sinus and nasal congestion, structural abnormalities of the face, acromegaly, hypothyroidism and enlarged tonsils. In these situations, the treatment of snoring is directed at the condition causing the obstruction. Snoring can also occur in the absence of any condition known to increase upper airway resistance.
Thyroid Cancer
Partial thyroid removal is often recommended for overactive one-sided nodules or large one-sided nodules that are causing compression on surrounding structures. Some symptoms of compression include hoarseness, difficulty breathing and difficulty swallowing (or the sensation of something consistently in one’s throat when swallowing). Those with thyroid cancer, Graves’ disease or enlarged multinodular goiters often have their entire thyroid removed along with surrounding lymph nodes if necessary.

Ultrasound
As long as there is at least one fully functioning parathyroid gland present, normal PTH production and calcium metabolism can continue. Prior to surgery, an ultrasound of the neck is often combined with a nuclear imaging study that uses a marker to identify the abnormal gland.
Computed Tomography
A CT or CAT scan is a shortened name for computerized tomography. A CT scan takes pictures of the inside of the body. The pictures are more detailed than a typical x-ray. During a CT scan of the sinuses, pictures are taken of cross sections or slices of the sinuses. The sinuses are air-filled cavities in your head. CT scans can identify problems with your sinuses and nasal passages.

Skin Cancer
Our faces are probably the most sun-exposed part of our bodies so it’s no surprise that skin cancer on the face is extremely common. The two most common types of facial skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Thankfully, they are the types of skin cancer least likely to spread and cause other serious consequences. Melanoma, on the other hand, is less common on the face but is very likely to spread (metastasize) and carries a much higher risk of serious complications compared to basal and squamous cell carcinomas.

Allergies
Please discuss with your doctor any medications you should discontinue prior to your allergy testing and other test preparation requirements. Antihistamines may affect the results of these tests and need to be stopped before testing is performed. Some over-the-counter cold and flu medications contain an antihistamine, so be sure to read labels carefully. If you are not sure if the medicine you are taking has an antihistamine, ask your doctor.
