El Potro Mexican Cafe

Cheap ingredients and no care in food prep. Throughout the restaurant, the floor and tables are dirty each time I've visited, once for a work day lunch and for weekend dinner. Cheap margaritas must be the only thing keeping people coming back. Bad food, sub par service, and gross. Steer clear.

Let me start off with we are patrons of this restaurant either once or twice a week, or use to be. Our last experience was less than acceptable. To make a long story short, a drink was spilled and cleaned up. All of the ice, fruit, and napkin that was used to clean up the mess, was put in the cup with the napkin on top of everything. I went up to our waitress and requested a fresh drink. The drink returned with no salt or fruit on the rim as they usually do, thinking that is odd, but oh well. After my wife took a few drinks I notice there is a napkin in the drink. The same one that was used to clean the table, so that means they just poured the "new" drink over all the stuff that was on the table. I spoke to the manager, and he apologized & asked what he could to to make it right. I told him that he knew what to do that would make it right. We sat there for a few moments and then our check arrived. I don't look to get things for free, but there was nothing done to make things right. What happened was nasty, and when I confronted the manager about the issue he acted as if he should not have to do anything and was disgusted when I said that I should not have to pay for anything after what happened. He ended up taking the drinks off of the bill, but acted like nothing was wrong with what happened & that he shouldn't have had to do anything.

We will not be returning.

The food is great ,servings plenty big and if you go away hungry it's by your own choice.The service is outstanding , very friendly ..We drove from the Grandview Mo area to Kansas City Kansas out by the KC Racetrack ,to pick up family to bring to El Potro..Worth all the driving and prices are reasonable,but most of all the food is delicious...

This is the best mexican food I have ever had. I don't know if it is authentic, but it sure is delicious! I have only ever ordered carryout, but they fill the to go box. The chimichangas and burritos are as big as my hand. I love the hostess, she is very inviting. It is a very good value, one of the lunch specials is enough to feed me and my daughter.
