NOTE: This place is now called The Kenny House
This review is long overdue, though that's not reflection of my experience. I met with Nancy a few months ago for a 90 minute massage. I live about 20 minutes away and usually go to a place less than a mile away in my town. But they were booked and so I stumbled on The Kenny House simply out of desperation. I was pleased they could see me the same day, and noticed their hours of operation are very flexible. At first I did not know what to make of the name of the place and I was a bit concerned it would either be some snobby place or a very clinical environment. I was so surprised to walk into such a warm and inviting place. I loved the décor and appreciated so much attention had been paid to the details. Nancy greeted me promptly and professionally and spent a couple minutes with me in the lobby. I hate when I walk into a place and the therapist just "processes me and points me to the room". Nancy made sure I felt comfortable and took the time to understand why I was there (not just for a massage, but what KIND of massage and what specific things brought me there). This is very important for me, because it tells me that my massage will not just be the same thing everyone gets; it will be tailored to my needs. Massages are a big investment and I appreciating them taking care of what is important to me. The massage itself was divine. As it happened, I sometimes like to talk during my massage, and I enjoyed Nancy responding to my questions about the history of the building (pretty fascinating), and how she progressed in her massage business. She responded when I inquired and kept quiet when I was quiet. Another fine attribute of a massage therapist. When I left, the tension in my neck and shoulder were greatly relieved and I felt amazing. Now let's add some special touches that should make anyone feel like this place is worth a bit of extra driving to get to. After my massage, she offered me a cup of hot tea for the road. I chose from a nice selection of fine teas which she prepared for me while I was taking care of paying my bill. Then I tried to put a $20 in her had as a tip. She handed it back to me, telling me the best tip I could give her was the gift of a referral or to return again. I have had probably 200 massages in my lifetime, traveling around the world in spas of all sorts. I have never had anyone return a tip to me so graciously and sincerely. I am please to say that I will venture the 20 minute drive the next time I need massage to again experience such a wonderful TOTAL experience.
