Was told within 2 minutes of the service guy being here that I would need a full replacement, that the boiler had likely dried up and was completely broken. After telling him I couldn't afford $7000 and refused to call on the spot for they're financing, he looked a little deeper and said there may be water in it and I could do some part replacements for $1000 to $2000 and it MIGHT work. After he had left, we had a local small business come out for free (Vincent's charged $109 to come out) they loosened my water valve and we had full heat within minutes! Granted we do need to replace some parts that are getting worn down, but if Vincent's would have at least done minor trouble shooting, I would have been satisfied to have heat and start replacing parts to ensure longevity and safety. Shame on your company for walking into a home with 3 children at the start of winter and attempting to take advantage of a desperate situation. I will pass my story along to every listening ear around the area. Luckily, I work with the public and small talk is a daily norm.
Sarah – I can sympathize with your situation of having three children in a cold house and not having the funds for major repairs, however our tech found that your boiler had 5 serious safety issues: no low-water cutoff, a non functional pressure reducing valve, a boiler that had been firing without enough water, a non working pressure relief valve, and a gas valve with signs of water damage. By you post, it doesn’t sound like you have addressed them and I am very concerned for you and your 3 children: A boiler that doesn’t have a working pressure relief valve should not be run until it is fixed – and this is just one of the safety problems you have. A pressure relief valve is the safety device that keeps your boiler from becoming a bomb and blowing up your house if the temperature control or gas valve fail and the pressure gets too high. Every year a failed relief valve causes this to happen in the U.S. Here is one example: http://komonews.com/news/local/watch-boiler-explodes-like-a-bomb-in-bellingham-home . Regardless of who does the repairs, I would urge you to do these immediately and not wait to do them later.

We had Vincent's Heating & Plumbing come out to clean and service our furnace after receiving their name from a friend. The technician, Keith, was on time, friendly, and knowledgeable. They did an outstanding job. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Mr. Squires,
It is like having a family member or close friend with superior knowledge come over to fix your problem. Harry was neat, respectable with a sense of pride about his workmanship. He stayed until the problem was fixed.
Thanks again VHP (Harry Mikolowski)
p.s. I did not think there was still organizations out there that are committed to delivering high quality customer service!!!!!

I've used Vincent's for many years and have never been disappointed. They are top notch--competent, fair and professional. When I saw the first review left here I had to laugh because my experience has been quite the opposite. That's why I don't even think about calling anyone else.
