Located in Portland, Ore., Peninsula Elementary School provides kindergarten classes and before- and after-school programs. It maintains partnerships with various communities, including Oregon Food Bank and Oregon Symphony. The school operates dance, jump rope and chess clubs. It offers a literacy program that includes literature, group instruction and phonemic awareness. The school also operates a parent-teacher association. It operates a children s center and provides the English as a Second Language program. Additionally, Peninsula School offers several tutoring programs. The school has a group of more than 15 teachers and over 5 educational assistants. It also has a cafeteria that serves muffins, burgers, sandwiches, biscuits, eggs and scrambled potatoes. Peninsula School is operated by Portland Public Schools, which serves nearly 45,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12.
