Dental Examination
The first step of a regular dental exam is to check in with you! We’ll always take the time to listen to any concerns you have so we can address them and find solutions to help you enjoy a strong, comfortable, beautiful smile.
X-rays
After that, we’ll perform a thorough examination for early signs of tooth decay, gum disease and oral cancer. The best way to check all around the structures of the teeth, gums, and jaw is routine dental X-rays and digital diagnostics.
Oral Cancer Screening
From there, we’ll perform a detailed tooth-by-tooth analysis, oral cancer screening, and gum disease evaluation, also called a periodontal exam.

Teeth Cleaning
If the disease is caught in the early stages of gingivitis, and no damage has been done, one or two regular dental checkups will be recommended. You will also be given instructions on improving your daily oral hygiene habits and having regular dental cleanings to prevent gingivitis from recurring or progressing.
Fluoride Treatment
At the end of your dental check up, we will typically recommend a fluoride treatment to keep your teeth in the best shape possible until your next visit with us. Fluoride is a naturally-occurring mineral that can help make teeth stronger and prevent
Dental Sealants
Many people have deep pits and grooves in their teeth where bacteria and food particles can hide and cause tooth decay. Children with poor brushing habits may also develop decay on hard-to-reach molars. For situations like these, dental sealants offer a means of protecting molar and premolar chewing surfaces from decay.

Fillings
A silver amalgam filling is relatively inexpensive and they are resistant to wear. A silver filling can last for decades with proper dental hygiene, but this type of filling is more noticeable and can cause tooth discoloration due to the materials used. Because of concerns about mercury, our office chooses not to offer this type of filling
Resin Composite
Composite fillings are completed in one visit. The first step is to numb the tooth and clean out the decayed area. Your dentist will remove as little of the tooth structure as possible to minimize the size of the filling, while completely removing the decay. The area is then cleaned, bonded, and filled with the composite resin, restoring the shape of the natural tooth. The resin is then smoothed to remove any sharp edges or rough surfaces. When the decay extends near the root, or nerve of the tooth, a medication is placed under the composite filling by our dentists to reduce the risk of infection.

Crowns are a restorative option that are placed on the tops of damaged or broken teeth to give a stronger, protective and more functional surface.

Root Canal Treatment
Root canals get a bad rap, but with an experienced dentist, the treatment is pain and anxiety-free, often just like a normal filling.

Deep Cleaning
Untreated gingivitis leads to periodontal disease. In periodontitis, pockets of bacteria and plaque form below the gum line, against the roots of your teeth, and begin to damage them. These pockets form when unhealthy gum tissue pulls away from the teeth due to infection. If the disease has advanced to periodontitis, a deep cleaning procedure called scaling and root planing will be recommended. In this procedure, tartar, plaque, and toxins are removed through scaling above and below the gum line, and rough spots on root surfaces are planed smooth. This procedure allows your gum tissue to heal in the absence of the plaque and tartar, and allows the periodontal pocket of bacteria and decay around your teeth to shrink back to normal.

While it’s not a minor treatment, extractions are done painlessly with a combination of local anesthetic and oral sedation.
