St. Mary's School

My wife and I REGRET ever sending our son to St. Mary's School in Rockville, MD in 2012. We had our son there for pre-school, his teacher at the time was Mrs. Matteo. There was incident with Mrs. Matteo, and our son who is 4 talked back to Mrs. Matteo. Later he apologized to her, when he apologized, she said " I DO NOT ACCEPT YOUR APOLOGY. This had impact on him, he was 4, and still affects a year later. He still brings it up to us at home. Our next complaint is probably more important. The new principal is DEBRA KENNEDY, whom did not show for a meeting we had set with 6 people, and never called. We were all there waiting. She called 20 days later to apologize for not attending, only to give us a quick and cold response. Mrs. Kennedy's attitude and carelessness trickles down to the staff in my opinion, and it shows. We decided not to send our son there for Kindergarten, and he is happy and successful at his new school.

In our opinion, St. Mary's is not putting the students first at such a young impressionable age. If they would invest in their teachers and culture, as much as they do to becoming a Blue Ribbon school, they may be better off. We did take this further with the Board of Ed and the Archdiocese of Washington, I'm not sure how St. Mary's has succeeded, but moving forward may be in worse competitive condition with the new principal at the helm. I just want to make note, Mrs. DeCruz is assistant to Mrs. Matteo and is wonderful, thank you.Our son speaks highly of you.
