        Delightful Surprise

        I recently made a reservation online to stay at the Arbor House. The decision was made because of the comments from previous guests who had stayed there. They were much better than those from the big chain motels. Driving from Denver, I arrived with a full-blown infection that had the right side of my face swollen to twice its size. Immediately, the owner, Ron Stinson, drove my husband and I to the NIX Medical Center just a few blocks away. When we returned we found our accommodations so much more than we had expected. The sitting room was delightfully furnished in period pieces that made us feel at home right away. The bedroom was large and had a second TV as well as a comfy king size bed that lulled us to sleep at once. We were pleased to have not only a coffee pot but a microwave and small refrigerator as well. The large bathroom and decorations were charming. In the morning we found a picnic basket filled with juices, bagels, muffins,, cream cheese, jelly, a variety of cheese and large fruti cupps. The basket could be taken to the porch or out to the garden or eaten in the room. We were located in the perfect spot, as we walked to the Alamo, to the Riverwalk and to restaurants recommended by our host. After a full day of sight seeing, we returned to spend a couple of hours relaxing and reading in the hidden garden behind the house. The best part of our visit was our interaction with the staff. They made our visit memorable. We would recommend Arbor House to anyone who is looking for a unique experience.
