Ideal location, good discounts



Nice and comfortable. A four night stay got us a decent discount on room rates. The swimming pool is warm and large. Breakfast menu was ordinary but more or less satisfactory. Must appreciate the staff for its help and assistance. The hotel is at a comfortable distance from the places you would love to see in San Diego but in terms of the location, its kinda lonely. Lovely flowers and plants around but the rooms are just too close together. So thumbs down for privacy. Overall would stay again on next visit. Will probably try their extended stay package.

Best low budget rates but there are few hitches



My buddies and I had an amazing time in San Diego. I was there in the last week of December and almost first week of January. We had stayed at California Suites Hotel. Now there are some good things and bad things about this hotel. Good thing is that it is very economical. The hotel offered attractive discounts on room rates which suited our limited budget. Plus, my friend had booked the room 10 days in advance, so we got additional discounts. Cable showed HBO channel. Though we hardly watched much of television. Continental breakfast was ok. However our rooms were small, albeit clean. Internet service was slow. And the staff is a bit slow again, don't respond fast to queries. Well, if are looking for a really budget hotel and if you can ignore the non-responsive nature of the staff, I think this hotel will suit you. P.S.- the outdoor swimming pool was really good!

Best rates but services slow



My budget was pretty low for a vacation in San Diego. Hence I was looking for an accommodation that would be just right – rock bottom in prices but good facilities. I picked California Suites Hotel only because it fit my budget. Frankly I did not like this hotel much. Gosh, the services, the staff was so slow. And there is nothing remarkable to write about complimentary breakfast. Sometimes I even had breakfast outside in nearby restaurants. But two things that did not disappointment me were the room rates and the swimming pool. I have been to a good many hotels now, but this hotel's got the best rates. No questions on that! Anyway from next time, if my budget allows I will go for a better hotel but if the budget's gonna be the same as this time, then I would opt for California Suites Hotel. Let's see!

Ok ok types budget hotel



Hotels play a important role in making your vacation better and comfortable. This time, on my vacation to San Diego I stayed at the California Suites Hotel which is a budget hotel. My expectations were not very high as it is a budget hotel. Nevertheless, the room I got was clean with a lovely view, though small and not very spacious. Room service was quite all right for the prices. This is not a 5 star hotel, so I could not complain much. I don't have complaints about the rooms or the service but I definitely have something to say about the complementary breakfast. It wasn't quite an sumptuous as the hotel promises and the bagels were often not fresh. Nevertheless, its a hotel definitely worth a try for its prices and location.

I don't enjoy vacations where I waste more time on commuting than on sightseeing. So this time on my San Diego vacation, I carefully researched and selected California Suites Hotel. The best part of this hotel is its location only for which I chose to stay here. Beaches and other major tourist areas were nearby. San Diego International Airport is also very near from the hotel. So no matter, wherever I went, commuting to any destination took very less time. But before you rush to book your stay here keep in mind that there is nothing fancy about this hotel. It is very basic and happily suited my budget. I was not very impressed with the services and didn't like the complementary breakfast that was provided to me. All in all, this hotel is good only for its location and affordable rates. If you are looking for a great price, then this is it!

Good location, close to beaches



I had a great time on my recent San Diego beach vacation with my friends. After a long time, my friends and I had taken out time from our busy schedules and had a fantastic time lazing around, playing volleyball and sailing at the sandy beaches. We wanted a hotel from where beaches are nearby so we had chosen California Suites Hotel. It is located in the middle of San Diego from where San Diego International Airport and the lovely beaches were just a stone's throw away. Besides the hotel provided the best possible rates. But other than its location and rates, don't expect too much from this place. The outdoor swimming pool was a relief. We got fresh fruits only once in our complementary breakfast. It is a good hotel considering the best rates it offers.

Basic budget hotel



I had gone with a bunch of my friends to San Diego. As recommended by one of my pals, we decided to stay at the California Suites Hotel. As this was a budget hotel, we weren't expecting much. Our room was very basic but well-furnished with microwave, refrigerator and stuff you need. Major reason for choosing this hotel was its prices which suited our budget. In fact, you can safely say this hotel provides the best rates among all the hotels we checked especially the hotels in Gaslamp Quarter (Gaslamp topped our things-to-do itinerary). Other good point about the hotel which we figured later was its location. Its very well placed from where Little Italy, beaches and of course my favorite Gaslamp Quarter were nearby. But yes, I want to warn visitors who are thinking of going to this hotel- staff is not very hospitable and rooms are very basic. So if you are comfortable with this and want to have good time on a limited budget then I think this hotel is the best price you can get.

Decent hotel for the rates you get



A trip to San Diego had been on the cards for a very long time, but the budget always posed a constraint. Accommodation in a good San Diego hotel costs a fair amount of money and so we were waiting to find the best rates. A friend suggested California Suites Hotel and we checked out the rates. Just the kind we were looking for. Now you can't expect the moon when you are looking for a bargain. But we were pleasantly surprised to see the complimentary breakfast, which was quite fresh, nothing lavish. Besides, they have a pretty big swimming pool, that was definitely a bonus. About the rest, we got decent rooms, nothing fancy, but ok. The staff was a little laid back, but that's not surprising in a budget hotel. One great thing about this hotel is its location, pitched right in the center of the city. So we could simply hop over to the San Diego's best tourist spots without spending a bomb on commute. All said and done, its a nice enough affordable hotel with the best rates, that offers some good discounts too! You get to have a good time well within your budget. Next time we go to San Diego, we plan to stay in this hotel again. I think that says it all!

On a recommendation of a friend, I had stayed in California Suites Hotel on my latest vacation to San Diego. Primary reason for staying in that hotel was its central location. Gaslamp Quarter, Old Town, beaches and other attractions which interest me were near the hotel. Besides the hotel offered good discounts on my stay. Although I had my inhibitions to stay in this hotel earlier, the hotel exceeded my expectations. The services were satisfactory and staff was good. It is not a very fancy, willy-frilly type of hotel but because of its prompt services, it is a good choice for budget travelers.

San Diego is a lively city which I enjoy thoroughly on every visit. Usually I end up spending most of my time on the beaches. But about two weeks back when I went to SD, I took some time off for visiting Balboa Park. I was also lucky to listen in to some great music at Mainly Mozart at Old Town, and roamed the streets of Old Town. Mercifully, my hotel – California Suites Hotel is centrally located so most of these San Diego sites are nearby. I didn't face any difficulty in commuting and the services at this hotel are great value for the prices they charge. Plus, I got some good discounts on my stay so I saved some more. Am wondering why I didn't see more of San Diego on my earlier visits.
