Very rude and unprofessional. Agreed on move out date with receptionist. She neglected to do the paperwork and we received a 500$ fine for failure to end lease within specified time frame. Absolutely would not listen to reason and threatened to send to collection agency if not paid. Repairs were always a pain and there was a lot of crime in the apartments with cops showing up to end fights every couple months.

Overall

Notoriously shady, I filled out an application which required a security deposit of $150 plus the application fee ( I think $25). I changed my mind the next day before they had even approved my application and I was informed in the most rude and unprofessional tone over the phone that I wouldn't be getting my security deposit back even though I hadn't even signed a lease or been approved yet. I found out it's legal but to me seems extremely immoral and poor business practice. They obviously don't care about their reputation as being shady around San Marcos.

Skiles are crooks

They are unprofessional, rude, crooks, liers, and misleads people. The place rented had fleas and roaches, yet they not do anything about it. Did work on it to improve the place and they still kept the deposit AND sent a bill for painting. If they want to paint, clean carpet, etc. for the next renters and then bill us for it!!! They are responsible for renewing buildings for their business, not us! They take advantage of college students. Employees are rude and have NO idea how to run a business. Be careful......they will send people to your place, with a copy of your key, not do a background check on them, and not call to warn you....so you will have a random guy walking in your place with no warning. Very dangerous!!!!! Don't rent from them!!!

This company still has a policy of screwing folk over. $600 in deposits they kept from us and charged extra because they wanted to repaint the unit and told us to feel blessed we weren't charged for more. Still fighting the charges. If you can't resist the cheap rent they offer make sure to document everything before you move in, make copies for yourself, and take photographs. If you ever need to call maintenance make an effort to be there when they are and document what they are doing as well. Then on move-out do it again, write things down and take photos. If you can be there during inspection do so, I bet it will save you a lot of money.

Im not the type to bash people but these people take the cake. PLEASE DO NOT RENT from them unless you have to and if you do dot all your i's and cross all your t's when renting. Me and my roommate read all the bad reviews but there is always two sides to every story. Now I know they are literal crooks and need to be put out of business. The place we rented was only 350 sq ft. We moved out no problem into my roommates brothers house as we are in a band and it was rent free then moved out into an apartment on w San antonio st. The whole time never a phone call from skiles. Lease is about to be up and seeing how Skiles is reasonably priced we went back. Come to find out a year and a half later they charged us over 900.00 in fees! Pretty shady huh. They have given to a collection agency. I dont want to put too many details as we are fighting this. The one good review on here I dont trust, must of been a relative or something. Again if you rent from them take this lesson we are learning the hard way. Video everything when you move out and contact IMMEDIATLY TO see when inspection will be done and deposit given back.

Skiles is pretty horrible and ...

Skiles is pretty horrible and cheap. I have had crappy experiences with these guys, but the worst was right after my son was born. It was summer, 100 degree days. My air conditioning went out and they left me to sweat with my newborn son for two days before they fixed the air conditioning. My husband worked out of town so I had no car to leave. They deemed the situation a "non emergency" because it was not above 100 degrees over the weekend. If you value your health, look elsewhere because they could care less about it.
