Detwiler's Farm Market

Shopping at Detwiler's Farm Market is an experience I only get to enjoy when visiting or taking classes in the Sarasota area. Having grown from selling fruit along side of the road, it's a family-owned operation recently opening their 4th store.

Always a huge selection of coffee, produce, meat and seafood. Most of it is fresh and from the local community. And did I mention fresh baked cookies and other baked goods? No, I didn't. You can smell them coming into the store.

The times I've visited, I stocked up on fresh meat and fish for the ride home to Fort Lauderdale. The prices at Detwiler's Farm Market are extremely competitive and less expensive than their big-box competitor's.

If you're into ice cream, be sure to visit and have a hand dipped cone or banana split. You can find the snack bar at the front of the store.

Polite and friendly staff - the Detwiler family has instilled just that same feeling, making it a family like shopping experience. I couldn't ask for anything better unless I brought the wife along. Only kidding - I never shop with my wife.

I have visited dozens of "farm markets" and Detwiler's ranks among the top 3 nationwide. I will visit again when in the Sarasota area.
