While I can't vouch for the real estate side of this business, I can review the property management first-hand. As first-time apartment renters rushing to get an apartment, we ended up in a building managed by BBD. From the first day, we knew it was going to be a bad experience.



From the manager arguing with our cosigner when asked a question to never answering the emergency phone line or support requests, it was just terrible. It was rather funny, though, that as soon as one of the other tenants missed a payment, he was right at their door. But as soon as we had a complaint about ice on the steps or fire alarms not working, he was nowhere to be found. It gets worse, too. One night, the water in the entire building shut off because the property management company never paid the bill. We, meaning everyone in the building, tried calling the emergency line, to no avail. Had it not been for one of our neighbors' medical condition, we would have been without water for days.



Upon moving out and following all procedures according to their handbook, including leaving the place cleaner than it was when we moved in, we provided all proper addresses and contact info for our security deposit to be returned. We used the USPS Priority Mail service to confirm delivery because he had lost multiple documents mailed to him in the past. Weeks go by with no response to our request for the security deposit, so we contacted the new property management company (Classic Properties) and dealt with a much friendlier manager to finally get our money back.



Overall, it was a bad experience. Could it have been worse? Absolutely. There are some sleezy apartment owners and managers out there, and this guy is definitely in their ranks. It's all about the money for some people. If you happen to come across an apartment managed by BBD, please stay away. It just isn't worth the time or trouble. Even if you're like us and pay your rent on time or early every month, you won't get any service.



We are relieved to have moved into a new apartment under much better management and will never look back to BBD ever. Because of BBD's tagline, our running joke is "If nobody does it better, then we're all screwed!"
