        Hi! My name is Heather Watley and I’m the owner and founder of Licks and Loves Dog Training Services. I am a certified training instructor through Animal Behavior College as well as a certified trainer with three years experience as the lead Pet Trainer at Pet Smart. I have five dogs of my own, all with vastly different personalities! They range in size from Great Dane to Chihuahua and everything in between. I decided I wanted to be a trainer firstly because of my passion for rescue dogs and seeing all dogs live in the homes they deserve. No pet deserves to be abused, neglected, or left behind. Any new dog parent knows the struggles of those “problem” behaviors that make you want to pull your hair out. Chewing up that expensive rug, jumping on guests when they come to your home, not coming when you call them, finding their potty spot in the house instead of outside, the list can go on and on. I have developed a training philosophy in my years as a trainer. First of all it takes commitment. Just as with any new skill it takes to time and practice to master it. Same is true with training your dog. Bringing a new puppy into your home is a lifetime commitment to not only care and love but also training for that pet. Bringing a rescue dog into your home is also not without its challenges. Training takes consistency. Getting that well-trained obedient dog takes a day in and day out consistency. Finally, relationship. Training to me is about relationship with your dog. The better the relationship, the more successful the outcome will be. Your dog lives with you and needs to learn from you.
