General Info: Founded in 1978, Harris Middle School offers various learning opportunities to students in grades five through eight. The school provides extracurricular activities in baseball, softball, cheerleading, football, soccer, golf, basketball and volleyball. Its accelerated reader program is used to monitor and guide reading practices, as well as help students in improving their reading skills. Harris Middle School features an auditorium, cafeteria and several classrooms. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The school is owned and operated by Mitchell County Schools, which is a public school system that serves more than 2,200 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Harris Middle School is located in Spruce Pine, N.C.
