This was the first restaurant my children ever visited, and they know us on sight by name. I've never had a bad meal here, and it's always full of kind people and comfortable places to sit. Unfortunately, the prices have gone up over the years, so this is a good place to go for delicious comfort food but be prepared to pay quite a bit for what you get.

The best deli in LA! Try the Pastrami and Chopped Liver for a surprising combo. The sandwiches are all big enough to split. Even the Lox and Cream Cheese on a toasted Bagel is piled so high that it too can be shared. The homemade Rice Pudding is truly extraordinary, a religious experience! The owner even told me it is their own secret recipe. You may even spot Hollywood celebrities meeting with their agents doing a power lunch. I love to see this and I am even in the biz. And I bring my husband and kids on weekends for a great family meal. Their kids menu is fantastic as well.

My in-laws and fiancee used Art's Deli to entice me into agreeing to live in Los Angeles. A native of Northern California, the idea of living in LA is often ridiculed up there, but the food at Art's convinced me that proper civilization exists in LA, you just have to know where to look. Thanks for securing my move to my new home 24 years ago - both my marriage and my love of Art's Deli persist! See you there.

The best deal still is the Tri-Salad plate. Two to three people can easily eat off this. Be sure to ask for extra bread--make mine rye. The food is tasty, properly seasoned, in large portions and served by the sort of very busy, determined and efficient servers you would expect, or should expect, in a authentic deli such as this. The sandwiches are huge, over sized, plenty of meats with fresh baked breads. If you like Jewish deli's, this is the place. Fresh, homemade matzoh ball/chicken soup is just perfect, very delicious. The servings are often large enough to satisfy the hungriest customer with plenty left over to take home for a second meal.

One of the great options for deli in Studio City. Food is a little overpriced but it's totally worth it!!

Best Deli Ever. Period.

OK, I am a fan of Art's, have been for years. Art's Deli in Studio City is a 1 hour drive for my friends and I. It is well worth it. We come from different parts of So Cal ... the OC, South LA, Inland Empire, and High Desert to meet at Art's for lunch. We come to enjoy the great food, the family atmosphere, and each others company. Family atmosphere because we are treated like family by Art's family ... and the servers.

As for the food, I invariably get pastrami on rye, though friends try other items. Being an ex-NY'er, I feel qualified to say that Art's pastrami on rye is the best this side of the Hudson. I don't understand others' complaints that it is a basic sandwich, just meat and bread? That IS what is served in NY deli's, no garnishings taking away from the taste of the meat and bread and deli mustard. That is what makes a delicious NY deli sandwich. If you want lettuce, tomato, cheese, or other ... ask for it. In NY City, those are not part of a pastrami, corned beef, roast beef, or other meat-type deli sandwich. Art's sandwiches are big, piled high with meat ... NY style. If you don't want NY style .. go to The Hat for their tasteless pastrami.

We make the 1 hour drive because we love the food ... and Art, Mrs Art, Roberta, and Harold. Did I mention that Art's IS true NY kosher Deli style through and through!

And if you want a true NY treat ... try a Chocolate Egg Cream, a fountain drink made to true NY specifications.

My favorite Deli of All Time Anywhere

I Eat at Art's Twice a Week or More!

What can you say about one of the last of the real delis? It's still the under the original family ownership. They tend to every customer like they are part of their own family. Huge portions. The closest to New York you'll get west of the Mississippi. Art's is the original, and still the best.

My work travels takes me to fine dining places and delis to meet clients. My number one choice is Art's Deli! (If you want a cheap awful imitation pastrami $7.00 sandwich maybe you should go to Subway.)

Without exception -- and this includes all the famous delicatessens in Beverly Hills and on Fairfax -- Art's serves up the best over-stuffed sandwiches in the LA area for the same $. Bread is always the freshest, meat always moist, tender and the finest...and you don't HAVE to have a lean corned beef sandwich if you don't like it that way. Art's brisket is worth the trip alone. All the pickles you want and lots of Dr. Brown's flavors. Next time try a hard salami sandwich or take some home. Chopped liver is second to none. I've been eating in Art's since the 70's and always find an excuse to go back. Service is efficient and attentive.

Wonderful pastrami. And wonderful matzo ball soup -- full of ingredients, and the matzo ball is the size of a softball. By far the best deli in the valley or the city.

Best Deli in the West

Oh wow. I love Art's Deli! My girlfriend and her family have been going for over two decades and I discovered it about 5 years ago. They have the most delicious, hugest sandwiches you can ask for. The pastrami with swiss cheese on rye bread is my favorite of all time. Their turkey blt is too die for too. Their bacon is sooo good and it doesn't even have any fat on it. My girlfriend loves the monte cristo. Their chicken noodle and matzo ball soup are great. We never leave without buying 2 huge chocolate chip cookies. Gotta run, going to Art's!!!
