Whiskey Joe's Bar & Grill - Tampa

We went to the "new" Whiskey Joe's reserected in the old Castaway building on the Courtney Cambell Causeway in Tampa for the first time on Sunday, January 25, 2009 and was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!! SERVICE AT THE BAR WAS NON-EXISTANT, DRINKS WATERED DOWN, FOOD DISAPPOINTING & PRICES OUTRAGEOUS!!! I ordered 1 dozen fresh oysters for $12.95 were served the smallest oysters I have EVER seen ANYWHERE. My wife ordered the oysters "Rockerfeller" for $10.95 and was served 6 very small oysters (again) that were not fully cooked, topped with way too much spinach, barely any cheese AND COLD TO BOOT!



For drinks I ordered a Jack Daniels on the "rocks" with a splash of Coke priced at $6.50 + $1.20 ("rocks" - up charge) for a total cost of $7.70 PER SINGLE DRINK (WOW) and my wife ordered a Bacardi and Coke priced at $6.50 PER SINGLE DRINK! NOTE - $6.50 for a single drink is airport bar prices not what you expect at a local casual dining restaurant. Anyother place (including mine) charges an average of around $4.75 to $5.25 for a single drink of this type (and some places it's 2 for 1 too). When the drinks came they looked and tasted light but I didn't say anything. When I ordered a second drink I noticed the bartender (male) did a 3 count for the drink which only puts 1.5 ounces of alcohol in the drink (I know my counts because I own a restaurant with a full liquor bar in Tampa). A "rocks" drink with an up-charge should get a 4+ count which puts between 2 and 2.25 ounces of alcohol in the drink.



MY ADVICE IS TO STAY AWAY FROM THE "NEW" WHISKEY JOES!!! The old place on Rocky Point was a lot more fun and a heck of a lot better. If this new version is what the owners are now offering they should have let it stay dead!
