Along with proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, one of the most important things you can do to benefit yourself and your baby during pregnancy is to exercise. Women who exercise regularly while pregnant have easier labor, deliveries and recovery time. They also experience less fatigue, reduced lower back pain, stress relief and weight management. The majority of pregnant women are able to exercise at a level appropriate to their stage of pregnancy, but you should always check with your doctor to make sure you have no risks or conditions that would prevent you from exercising safely.
Smoking Cessation
Behavioral techniques, which improve bladder control by teaching persons to adopt new skills, are recommended first for treating overactive bladder. These include self-care practices or lifestyle changes, such as weight loss, smoking cessation, moderation in fluid intake and elimination of foods that contain bladder irritants such as caffeine and alcohol, bladder retraining and pelvic floor muscle exercises. These behavioral changes can be very effective and should be used in combination with drug therapy. Your doctor may ask you to keep a bladder diary; a record of your fluid intake, trips to the bathroom, episodes of urine leakage, and an estimate of the amount of leakage. By looking at this record, the doctor may see a pattern and suggest making it a point to use the bathroom at regular timed intervals, a habit called timed voiding. As you gain control, you can extend the time between scheduled trips to the bathroom. Behavioral treatment also includes Kegel exercises to strengthen the muscles that help hold in urine. This regular, daily exercising of pelvic muscles can improve and even prevent urinary incontinence and urgency. This is particularly helpful for younger women. Kegel exercises should be performed 30-80 times daily for at least 8 weeks.

An overactive bladder is a condition that results from sudden, involuntary contraction of the muscle in the wall of the urinary bladder. The layered, smooth muscle that surrounds the bladder, the detrusor muscle, contracts spastically, sometimes without a known cause, which results in sustained, high bladder pressure and the urgent need to urinate. Normal urination involves processes within the urinary tract and the brain. When urine is produced in the kidneys, it is stored in the bladder for controlled discharge. The slight need to urinate is sensed when urine volume reaches about one-half of the bladder's capacity. The brain suppresses this need until a person initiates urination. Once urination has been initiated, the nervous system signals the detrusor muscle to contract into a funnel shape and expel urine. Pressure in the bladder increases and the detrusor muscle remains contracted until the bladder empties. Once empty, pressure falls and the bladder relaxes and resumes its normal shape. Overactive bladder is also referred to as urge incontinence and is a form of urinary incontinence, or loss of urine.

Two common reasons for female infertility are endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome. Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a result of cysts on a woman's ovaries. An ectopic pregnancy is when the egg implants outside of the uterus. The condition may occur in one of every fifty pregnancies. Basically when the egg has been fertilized it travels down the fallopian tube to the uterus for a normal pregnancy. When a woman has a damaged or blocked fallopian tube, the egg will not make it to the womb; instead, it will implant in the tube and continue to develop. Another word for ectopic pregnancy is "tubal pregnancy". Other areas where a fertilized egg could implant include the ovaries, cervix, abdomen, or c- section scar. Some women have had a normal pregnancy in their uterus and an ectopic pregnancy at the same time. This is often referred to as heterotopic pregnancy.

There are different problems that you may be experiencing which can mimic many of the same symptoms so it is necessary to check it with a urine culture. It is also important for you to note that blood in the urine does not necessarily mean that you are experiencing a urinary tract infection. This is common with other problems as well, such as active silent kidney stones.

The American Cancer Society states that the fifth killer of women in the United States is ovarian cancer. It is estimated that in the next year there will be 20,000 new cases of ovarian cancer. Within that same twelve month period 15,000 women will die from ovarian cancer. As with most cancers, early detection is the key to a good survival rate. Due to the fact that ovarian cancer is so hard to detect in its early stages and is often confused with another disease, by the time it is found it has already advanced and spread to other organs.

Cancer is certainly something that we are all concerned about in some way or another. We all realize that there is a possibility that we will have to deal with it at some point in our life. That is why many of us will make sure that we have tests done on a routine basis in order to catch any problems that may be occurring early, before they have an opportunity to really take root. These tests can take many different forms but one of the most important for a woman to have on a regular basis is a Pap smear, or cervical cancer screening.

A urinary tract infection is something that is common in many women. In the case of a recurrent urinary tract infection, you are actually experiencing a problem with episodes of cystitis. This is a condition which infects the bladder, typically in an inflammatory way. Since bacteria is present in the urine during a bout of cystitis, the urethra is often infected which is what causes many of the symptoms that you will be experiencing. There are a number of different things that can be done in order to help you to overcome a recurrent urinary tract infection and some things that may actually be able to help you to avoid having them in the first place.

There are really only several types of fetal monitoring that are done. The most common type of monitoring which is performed is through a special type of instrument that resembles a stethoscope, which is called a fetoscope. This can be done during the second and third trimester, once the baby's heartbeat is strong enough to be heard in this way. Another type of fetal monitoring is known as the Doppler. This is a type of ultrasound which transmits the sounds that are heard inside of the womb through a speaker that is attached to the instrument. A Doppler can typically be used about six weeks earlier than a fetoscope.
Chemotherapy
Treatment most often requires surgery and then chemotherapy. Prevention of ovarian cancer seems to include three factors. One: the use of oral birth control pills - use for three to five years reduces your risk 30 to 50 percent. Two: Pregnancy and breastfeeding - if you have at least one child this reduces your risk of ovarian cancer, and it is believed that breastfeeding for a year or more also helps reduce the risk. Three: tubal ligation or hysterectomy - in a study where thousands of women were followed for 20 years, there was a substantial reduction in ovarian cancer risk in women that have had a tubal ligation.

The only other surgery that is more routinely done than a hysterectomy is a cesarean section. Why is it that this particular operation is such a common one and what can be expected if you have to have a hysterectomy?

While a physician may be able to do an ultrasound and an exam to determine that there is a problem, laparoscopy, a minor surgical procedure, is the only concrete way where the doctor can look inside to determine the extent of the problem.

The problem with endometriosis is that the tissue building in other areas of the body has no way to shed and leave the body. Often internal bleeding and inflammation will occur as a result of this growth of tissue. The women who suffer from endometriosis generally develop scar tissue in their bodies from the tissue and lesions. They may also suffer from bowel problems as they are more prone to hemorrhoids, constipation or bleeding from the bowels.
