Ultrasound
Vanessa has been employed with Northwest Tennessee Cardiology Clinic since the beginning in April of 1996. She graduated from Dresden High School in the top 10 of her class and attended Jackson State University. She received her Registry in Diagnostic Cardiac Ultrasound in 1996. Her duties include all diagnostic testing such as ultrasound of the heart and carotid arteries, pacemaker follow-up, and phlebotomy. She also is in charge of hospital billing.
Computed Tomography
(CT) scan used to look for calcium deposits in the coronary arteries of the heart. This test attempts to stratify risk of coronary events (e.g. heart attacks) in asymptomatic (meaning no symptoms of chest pain) individuals considered to be at intermediate risk. This risk gives the probability of a coronary event at between 10 to 20% over a 10 year period. Coronary artery disease is caused by plaque formation within the walls of the coronary arteries. This plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol, and calcium. It is this calcium that can be detected by a CT scan.
