You must take your RMD withdrawal by December 31 each year. However, if you turn 73 this year, you may delay your first RMD withdrawal until April 1 of the following year. Waiting until next year would require you to take both this yearâ€™s and next yearâ€™s distribution in the same tax year, which could increase your overall income tax liability for next year.
