Medical Weight Loss
There are other reasons, however, for this visit. All newborns lose some weight after birth. We need to weigh the baby to make sure there is no excessive weight loss.
Pediatric Care
Was born and raised in California. She completed her undergraduate and graduate training through the UCR/UCLA Biomedical Sciences Program. She went on to complete her pediatric training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She has dedicated the last 10 years practicing general pediatrics at a local nonprofit community health center caring for the uninsured and the underserved children in the Santa Clarita Valley. She is married and has a son. She enjoys any free time she has camping with her family.

Autism
Do not Google the vaccine. The internet is rife with statements that are not scientific, scary, and just wrong. The vaccine does not cause any serious side effects, although when a child develops something after a vaccine a parent tends to blame the vaccine. The MMR and autism is an example of that.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Physical exams need to be scheduled in advance. Because visits may be longer or more detailed to discuss progress and medications and school performance, there are a limited number of ADD/ADHD checkup slots and they do fill up quickly. If your schedule is limited, calling two months in advance is strongly recommended.

Eczema
A study from New Zealand revealed that children who bite their nails or suck their thumbs have a significantly lower risk of asthma, allergies and eczema. Not only is that true in childhood, but they evaluated adults up to 32 years and the relationship held.
Lesions
After almost 10 years of vaccination, the number of cervical cancers and precancerous lesions has been reduced by 50%. In addition, the vaccine appears to protect from types of HPV species that are not included in the vaccine.
