1 in 4 of all elderly deal with some form of COPD.
The staff at the facility should know when their resident is not breathing normally and to know how to use home oxygen equipment. Expertise and common sense is required.
Common sense should tell Galina:
...do not obstruct the oxygen flow such as having a heavy object sitting on tubing.
...to increase the home oxygen flow as prescribed or call the doctor-on-call for advice.
...call 911 for medical help right away.
Needless to say there was a lack of common sense when my mom had to fight to breath all evening/night before 911 was called the next afternoon. Her oxygen saturation level was 55: ..the point of passing out. The EMTs rushed her to the hospital and that was my mom's last day at Burberry AFH. After 6 weeks in the hospital, she passed away.
If you hear anything different, it is a lie. I trusted these people. If your loved one requires care, this is not the place. Most residents were more independent. Look elsewhere.
