Bridges
An implant supported bridge is a restorative solution for spaces where three or more adjacent teeth are missing. The bridge replaces multiple adjacent missing teeth without the use of a denture. This restoration typically requires two implants to support the porcelain bridge. The bridge provides a functional and aesthetic replacement for the patient’s natural teeth.

Root Canal Treatment
Injuries to the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) and the lingual nerve are relatively uncommon events. However, there are certain routine surgical and non-surgical procedures that have the potential for injuring these neural structures. Surgical removal of impacted wisdom is by far the most commonly performed procedure that has a known risk of nerve injury. Other procedures such as root canal treatment, local anesthesia injections and corrective jaw surgery have also been associated with injury to the IAN or lingual nerve. Lower jaw implants that are placed too close to the nerve can also result in nerve injury. Injury to sensory nerves of the face and tongue result in altered sensation in the lips and tongue.

Dentures
This solution can simulate the look and feel of natural teeth and is easy to care for. The arch stays fixed in place with the implants acting as anchors. Patients will not experience the typical rocking and movement or gum irritation associated with dentures. With an implant supported full arch, there is no plate covering the roof of the mouth, so speaking and eating are more natural and comfortable than with a traditional denture.

Dental Implants
This is what we always strive for. Some patients have sufficient bone to support implant placement and are able to go right to traditional implant therapy and begin constructive work, while other patients may need zygoma or grafting prior to implant placement, but, regardless of the restorative therapy route, our goal is to help each individual achieve a functional and beautiful outcome.

Dr. Allen Glied is a Board Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon who has focused his area of practice on corrective jaw surgery, reconstruction of the jaws including the Temporomandibular Joints (TMJ).
Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr. Abel graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, where he earned a DMD degree and received several awards for academic excellence. He subsequently completed his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical Center, earning an MD degree at Weill Cornell Medicine as part of an integrated six year dual-degree program. In residency, he trained in anesthesiology and general surgery to supplement the comprehensive care of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery patient.
Tooth Extractions
Bone Grafting
Distraction osteogenesis is a jaw reconstruction process that allows bone to grow without the need for grafting by expanding the tissues and the affected area of the jaw. This procedure generates new bone by slowly stretching divided bone and is particularly useful when treating infants and children who might not be candidates for more traditional bone grafting.

Orthodontics
In about 50 percent of cases there is a congenitally absent lateral incisor. When this occurs there are several treatment alternatives. The first is to allow the erupting cuspid to lateralize; and when orthodontics is completed, this tooth can undergo odontoplasty. Another approach is to allow the cuspid to erupt into its proper anatomic position while maintaining the lateral edentulous position. When growth is completed, an osseointegrated implant can be placed. This is a technique that was introduced by Frank Verdi and is, perhaps, the favored approach, as it maintains proper arch form and tooth mass, thus providing support for the overlying facial soft tissues. Care must be taken that there is adequate projection of the graft. If not, lateral bony augmentation must be performed prior to implant placement. A final approach is to construct a fixed anterior dental bridge. This requires preparation of healthy teeth in young individuals and is the least preferred solution.
Braces
Additional surgeries are needed to improve the appearance of the lip and nose, close the opening between the mouth and nose, help breathing, and stabilize and realign the jaw. Once the permanent teeth grow in, braces are often needed to straighten the teeth.

General Dentistry
In 2004, Dr. Glied moved to New York City to pursue his passion for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Glied has continuously maintained practice in Corrective Jaw Surgery (Orthognathic Surgery) Complex Facial Trauma and Reconstruction. He has been heavily involved in resident training programs including, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Dental Anesthesia, and General Dentistry.
