Schwarz has extensive experience in Massachusetts and Florida handling complex cases involving divorce, paternity, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, guardian ad litem work, removal and relocation actions, post judgment modifications, enforcement and contempt issues. Prior to joining Rubin and Rudman, Matt specialized in tax and business law at a Rhode Island-based firm where he represented client industries, including private equity, investment banking, real estate development, and tax credit finance.
Sullivan is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment and Higher Education Departments. She represents employers regarding the negotiations and implementation of collective bargaining agreements and the defense of employment actions, and she provides employers with advice on such matters as hiring and promotion, disciplinary action, performance management, internal investigations, and discrimination claims. Additionally, Sullivan counsels and provides training for employers on matters relating to the ADA, ADEA, FMLA, PFML, FERPA, Title IX, Clery Act, VAWA, wage and hour law, and public records and open meeting law. She also litigates labor and employment issues in arbitration and in many administrative agencies, including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Department of Labor Relations and the Civil Service Commission.
Wood represents clients on environmental and land use matters with a particular concentration in facility and project siting, wetlands and coastal permitting, enforcement defense and mitigation compliance, zoning and subdivision control, impact review and auditing, hazardous waste and real estate transactions, solid waste and health issues, regulatory takings, tax abatements, and environmental mediation.
Matt concentrates his practice in the areas of income tax planning, real estate, and 1031 exchanges, family offices and closely held businesses, tax credits and incentives, Opportunity Zones, tax controversies, M&A transactions, and partnership tax strategies. He develops tax planning strategies that minimize and defer business and individual taxes at the Federal, State and local level. Matt regularly counsels high net worth individuals and business executives on tax planning strategies for business and investment activities. He also represents clients in tax controversies with Federal and State tax authorities. He works with clients and their professional advisors to implement tax strategies that deliver meaningful economic results and further business goals.
