General Info

Public Works and Engineering Department is part of the Aiken County Government in South Carolina. The department is made up of several divisions, including animal control that operates and maintains the county animal shelter. Its engineering division is in charge of construction management of all new and existing county building facilities; design and construction of county-owned roadway and drainage projects; acquisition of right-of-way, permitting and easements; and technical review of proposed developments in the county. The division also conducts studies relating to drainage and environmental impact; and provides in-house engineering technical support for all county agencies. The public works department also has a physical plant division, solid waste division and roads and bridges division.
