Dental Sealants
Asking your hygienist or dentist about sealant applications to protect your child’s teeth-chewing surfaces and about bottle tooth decay, which occurs when teeth are frequently exposed to sugared liquids.

Fillings
White fillings bond to the tooth; they strengthen the tooth by restoring most of its original shape. Silver amalgams, on the other hand, weaken the teeth and make them more susceptible to breaking. Broken teeth can be very expensive to replace; white fillings can actually save time and money in the long run.
Resin Composite
Composite resins come in many different shades and provide better matching of shades to the natural color of your teeth.
Veneers
A. Porcelain veneers are designed to look like your natural teeth and are individually and permanently attached to the fronts of your existing teeth. Bonding utilizes a composite material made of plastic to fill in areas of your teeth and correct chipping and shape problems. Both porcelain veneers and bonding are color-matched to the rest of your teeth.
Crowns
Composite bonds, however, are not as durable and long-lasting as veneers and crowns and may need to be re-touched or replaced in the future.
Dental Bonding
Often used to improve the appearance of your teeth and enhance your smile. As the name indicates, composite material, either a plastic or resin, is bonded to an existing tooth. Unlike veneers or crowns, composite bonding removes little, if any, of the original tooth.

Root Canal Treatment
An endodontist is a specialist in the area of soft tissue inside the tooth. Endodontists, who perform root canals, receive advanced education after graduating from dental school and typically only deal with endodontic-related problems.

Oral Surgery
A. One of our staff members will compile your medical and dental history during your first visit. We will then examine your teeth and gums, screen you for oral cancer, make X-rays of your teeth as needed and complete a TMJ (temporomandibular or jaw joint) exam. After we review your dental profile, we will discuss a diagnosis with you. If treatment such as a root canal (endodontics), braces (orthodontics) or oral surgery is needed, we will plan to treat you in our office or refer you to a specialist. We will discuss your options for treatment and fee payment and help you determine the best plan to fit your needs.

Teeth Whitening
A. There are several methods available for whitening the teeth: in office, overnight or daily. ZOOM whitening is done in our office. One session generally lasts one and a half to two hours, and you can read or relax during the treatment. For overnight whitening, we make an impression of your teeth and create a mouthguard that fits your bite. Each day you fill the mouthguard with a small amount of whitening gel and wear it overnight or for a few hours during the day. The overnight whitening process takes approximately two weeks.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Zoom! Whitening is very safe while under the supervision of a trained dentist. It is one of the safest procedures in cosmetic dentistry. However, we do not recommend this procedure for pregnant women or children under age 13.
General Dentistry
Dr. Kevin Fortier has been practicing dentistry since 1994. After receiving his Bachelor of Art s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Arizona, he attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the Indian Dental Society. He is also active in the community, volunteering with the Orange County Dental Society s Children s Dental Health Screenings.
