Endometrial Ablation
For most patients, endometrial ablation can be done in the office with mild sedation. Downtime is minimal â€“ most women are able to return to their normal activities within a day or two. Because it removes the lining of the uterus, endometrial ablation is only for women who are sure that they donâ€™t want to become pregnant in the future. Highly reliable birth control is necessary for the rest of a womanâ€™s childbearing years. After endometrial ablation, many women experience very light, shortened periods while others report having no periods at all. Instead of a week, your period might last a day.
