Peter DeFilippis, founder, graduated from Fordham University in 1985. He received his Juris Doctor Degree from Seton Hall Law School in 1988. He was admitted to the practice of law for the States of New York and New Jersey that same year. He is also admitted to practice in Federal Court in both the Southern and Eastern Districts. The first three years of Mr. DeFilippis' legal career were spent working for the contract law and real estate litigation firm of Jeffrey Margolis & Associates, and later for the negligence litigation firm of Harmon & Marks. Mr. DeFilippis began The Law Offices of Peter DeFilippis & Associates in 1991. Mr. DeFilippis has been an active member of The New York State Trial Lawyers Association, New York County Lawyers Association and an appointed Board Member of Community Board 8 on the Upper Eastside of Manhattan. He is a New York County Judicial Delegate and serves as a member for one of the Judicial Selection Committees responsible for interviewing prospective judges seeking an endorsement for election or re-election. He is the Vice-Chair of a Law Committee for the County of New York. Since 1998 he has also volunteered his time as a Covenant House mentor and as a volunteer with the New York Cares organization. As the son of a civil engineer/ general contractor, Mr. DeFilippis spent a great deal of time working in almost all aspects of the construction field. Thereafter he managed a real estate purchasing and development partnership. This practical experience has given him an advantage in representing and trying cases for those in the construction and real estate industries. Mr. DeFilippis has extensive trial experience, and has favorably settled and won substantial verdicts in several high profile cases. He has provided legal commentary for television and newspaper reporters on numerous occasions. Everyone in the firm, from Mr. DeFilippis to the dedicated paralegals and attorneys assisting him, work hard to handle a variety of cases including all manner of injury and medical malpractice claims.
