Oakton Street Antique Center

Today I dropped off my motorcycle at a mechanic next door to Oakton Street Antique Centre. My taxi didn't show up to pick me up and I'd left my cell phone on my counter at home so I walked next door to the antique shop and politely asked, "May I please use your phone?" The owner immediately replied, "I can't just let people off the street use my phone!" I stared at her in disbelief. She said, "If you are having an emergency you can use the phone." I explained to her that I was stranded. She said, "I'm sorry, you can't use my phone." I left and went one door farther down the road where a nice man who runs an Indian grocery very kindly allowed me to use his phone without question. My taxi eventually came and I got home safely.

The merchandise in Oakton Street Antique Centre didn't look very antique, as the previous reviewer said. However, even if it were priceless I would not do business with a person who would be quick to deny a basic kindness that costs her nothing to a person whom she calls, "people off the street." After all, her customers are people off the street, too. How will she treat you if you become her customer?

This store is great! I have been a long time customer, and I have a great time shopping there. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and they have tons of cool items. I always find something to buy here. They have all types of antiques--if you collect it, it's there. I would definitely recommend this store.
