The only reason that I rated this fabulous restaurant as 4 stars for both atmosphere and food is so that I can convey how wonderful server Lexi was! She was incredibly knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. She was also just pleasant as a person to be around.
If I ever have to recommend a restaurant to someone visiting Atlanta, I will recommend Alma, especially if Lexi is waitressing!

I visited Alma Cocina for lunch and it was good. I think if you are looking for more upscale Mexican this is your place. The restaurant is located in an office building and its "outdoor space" is basically an indoor patio that overlooks the lobby of the building. To start I got the guacamole which was good but I thought it was a bit overpriced ($9) for the portion. For an entree I ordered the grilled salsa verde shrimp tacos that were seasoned pretty well but did have a lot of onion. Probably too much. It came with black beans and poblano chile rice which was delicious. This restaurant is good for a quick lunch if you work on the area.

Do you have those friends that can't eat this and can't it that? Well I do and this is how I ended up here . This is the one time eating out with my picky friend paid off. She lives the gluten free life and they have an amazing menu filled with just gluten free items. If you love salsa and you love guacamole this will be a match made in heaven for you. They call it the Guacamole & Salsa tasting. You get three of each. If you add a few cocktails you may forget about ordering dinner. The atmosphere is nice and the bartender was just the best. I truly love someone who loves their job and has tried the food on the menu. This allows them to give you their true opinion vs what's popular. This is a nice place to meet up with friends or just a nice dinner date with the boo.

I went to Alma Cocina the other night with a big group of people, and overall I enjoyed my time there. I thought some of the cocktails were better than the others, and I thought some of the dishes were overrated (like the lamb tacos and grilled shrimp tacos). But the service was good, and the fried chihuahua cheese at the beginning was divine!

Had high hopes but aside from the margaritas and service (why I gave 2 vs 1 star), was very disappointed by the food. Tried the guac and salsa sampler and wish I hadn't...traditional flavored were fine...the 'snazzier' versions of each were eh. The carnitas tacos were very disappointing...what little flavor there was was very sweet and didn't help this dish recover.
