The heart is a very complex organ. It has four valves, an electrical conduction system, and four chambers, all of which are crucial to its function. As in people, animals suffer from a wide variety of heart diseases. In order to correctly diagnose and treat these diseases, it is necessary to see inside the heart, visualize the movement of the chambers, and to look at the valves in motion. This is the area where ultrasound predominates. Using ultrasound, it is possible to watch the heart in motion and to measure each of itsâ€™ parts. Ultrasound also allows the doctor or technician to measure the actual physical effects of various heart medications and to carefully adjust dosages.
Kidney Disease Treatment
Often the behavior problem, such as inappropriate voiding, can be linked to a medical issue (such as cystitis, bladder stones, or kidney disease) and can be treated medically. For other behavior issues, the treatment plan often includes behavior modification and may include medication-assisted training. X-Ray
With the availability of digital radiography, x-rays have become far more powerful and useful than ever before. This means that we can quickly take highly detailed radiographs, manipulate them to gain a better view of your pet's bones and internal organs, and then display them on a computer for you to see.
Dental Radiology
The first part of animal dental cleaning requires the removal of tartar. This is done by hand, using tartar forceps. Next, an ultrasonic scaler is used above and below the gumline. Once the teeth have been thoroughly cleaned, a periodontal probe is used to check for pockets below the gumline. Deep pockets can mean periodontal disease and infection. If deep pockets are found they are cleaned by hand using a curette to remove plaque and tartar from the exposed root surfaces. If necessary, dental x-rays are taken to help guide further treatment. Your pet's teeth are then polished, creating a smooth surface. The gums are washed with an anti-bacterial solution to help delay tartar build-up both below the gumline and on the crown of the tooth. Finally, the doctor also administers a fluoride treatment to strengthen your pet's teeth, desensitize exposed roots, and decrease infection.

Because a mature pet's condition can change significantly in a short period of time, we recommend that families bring in their senior pets approximately every six months.
