My Family Dental Care

American family dental is very helpful

American Family Dental Care consistently charged me several hundred dollars more (about $600 more) for a crown, than the going market rate for the same service elsewhere. They take advantage of the fact that most clients, if not all, really don't know how much dental care is suppose to cost, and therefore engage in exploitative and eye gauging practices. For example, they billed me $1,200 to replace a crown. I paid the price not knowing any better and trusting American Family Dental to be both reputable and honest. I later went to another dentist for the same exact service on a different tooth and was only charged $600 for far superior service (the whole process was done within two hours on the same day as opposed to American Family Dental which required me to make a couple of appointments both lasting several hours each.)



The take away message is that American Family Dental, while providing services that are mediocre at best, routinely engages in exploitative business practices.



I read the negative reviews and still decided to go to this place. I guess I get what I deserve.



Avoid this place at all cost unless you want to pay double for services and waste time! I'm reporting them to the better business bureau!

Do not EVER go to this dentist office. It's the office from hell. The front office staff is incorrigible. The receptionist and manager are totally disrespectful and non-caring. It has been a nightmare dealing with this office. The dentists are all subcontractors and have no stake in this pathetic business. I'm presently reporting them to the BBB. If I could give them less than 1 star, I would! They deserve a -1,000 stars.

I would recommend this place. Very helpful and professional staff and doctor. They were able to see me on the same day since I was in pain and took care of me.

I wish I could rate any less than 1 star !!



Experience : I am a physician myself and have never come across a practice as bad as this in my 15 + yrs of medical experience



Pros : Clean, well staffed, good location

Cons : everything u can possibly imagine...but wont go into all the details, but will tell my personal experience.



I went for a routine exam and annual scaling. I get scaling done annually and my last dentist gave me a clean exam and normal X rays



They made me do complete set up of X rays saying its essential. I get it done and the dentist says -- well you have 3- 4 mm cavities on 2 teeth and they need to have filling. I had no symptoms what so ever at that time. I said I will get it done only if my insurance covers fully for the procedure and otherwise I will defer it for now. They verify and said they called to confirm that everything will be covered.



I sit down and then she goes drilling and drilling -- may be made the cavity bigger. I started having tooth ache from then on. Called the office a few times, dental assistant checks with doc and says its normal. the pain lasted 6 months and now I still get occasional pain.



30 days later I get a bill saying I owe them $ 1200 for the procedure, because Insurance did not pay. I called and the lady goes I dont know why they didnt pay...but you owe it to us now. I said I wont pay all of it, one I did mention clearly that I will get it done only if covered and the procedure made things worse. Next thing she says -- we will send it to the collection agency !! Trust me-- this is the first phone call regarding the bill.



Few months down the line, I was buying a car and saw that the collection agency put it on my credit file never even contacting me ( very bizarre ).



Even if you ignore this whole credit report thing...i general the practice is very unethical, misleading and manipulative.



Please, take my word and never go there in your best interest !!

hands down the worst office i have ever been to. my initial visit was supposed to be for an exam and a cleaning. it wasn't until i got there that i found out the cleaning wasn't happening because the hygenist had called out. i had to take another day off work and come in for a second appointment. i asked why no one had called me and it turned out they had the wrong phone number.



a month later i had an appointment scheduled for two crowns. when i got there the girl behind the counter informed me that the dentist had called out. she told me they called everyone the day before but i never received a call. i double checked that they had the right phone number and AGAIN the number was entered incorrectly (even though when i changed it the first time the receptionist assured me she corrected it). the worst part about it was i called the day before my appointment to see how long it would run and they never mentioned to me that it was cancelled. all three times i was there i got a bad feeling.



the girl behind the counter has a BAD attitude problem. i am not normally a mean person but i was so fed up of making appointments and having them cancelled and then dealing with this B**TCH of a receptionist that I cursed her out (it felt great) and walked out. the other employees were cold and unwelcoming as well.



BOTTOM LINE: do not waste your time at this office. never returning again!
