UAB Hospital Patient Information

I would not recommend anyone (other if you are UAB employee) to use the UAB services. The quality of their services is lower that other hospital as Saint Vincent or BrookWood hospital and their services are way more expensive. Summary: If you don’t want to get rip off don’t go to UAB.

Here are the numbers: I had two kids 23 months apart. My first in Saint Vincents Approximate total billed for the whole pregnancy, delivery, etc $12,000. I had my second in UAB Women & Infants Center a division of UAB Hospital and the approximate total billed is $30,000 and the quality of the service was lower. In top of that when I requested the detail of charges in both hospitals and compare, there were a lot of charges in UAB that didn’t exist in Saint Vincent hospital. A great example is an item named “Visit Estab Level V” for $405. I asked what the service was, and they explained that it was just a general item just for front desk visit. Image that you go to a store and just to get in front of the cashier they charge you $405. Well, that’s what UAB does.

The patient information guide does not give the address where to mail cards and letters to patients. Now I have to make a phone call and ask where, as on the UAB website there are several different addresses. You'd think if they have a page on the gift shop they would have a section for patient mail.
