Overall
Horrible

I travel all over taking pictures for children's magazines tries a lot of bbq!! My husband Matt and I tried this place two times while in Ri it was dry horrible microwaved not fresh at all. The bbq tasted like sweet baby rays I can buy at any store!! Claims everything is made to order it is all frozen for sure!!! The drinks tasted like they where not even the right liqueur but bartender seems really young and was clearly drunk told she is related to the owner!! If that is how you run your business sad cute place but food and drinks are horrible and honestly the service was not great !!! A bunch of young girls that have no clue about respect and we got attitude when we went in the second time because the cook was on a beer break and we wanted food!!! What happened to customers always right when we complained to the bartender who was also the waitress maybe thats why no customers no help !!!! When we complained about the cooks attitude told us yeah thats how he is if you stop his drinking time and he has to work... I asked does the owner know she said yes he is right upstairs he drinks just as much. I talked to others from town I know over the years to find out the food is always horrible the owner yells at customers who complain... And its never the customer is always right !!! Would never go there again for free rather spend three times as much for good service and decent food !!!!!

I'll be open right off the bat... I'm posting this review on a couple different sites. Only because I have something to gain! No, I'm not paid by Firehouse Tavern, but I do benefit if they can grow a bit and succeed as a small business in a difficult economy. I live right down the street and only recently decided to stop in for a meal. It's less than a five minute walk from home and helps us to feel virtuous if we walk back after a delicious meal!

Now, on with the review... Like many people, when we think of a decent, reasonably priced, sit down meal, we think of the chains. i.e. Applebee's, 99, Outback, TGI Fridays and the like. That's what we were looking for when we drove home from a week long vacation full of ice cream and fried foods. The problem was, we had the dog in the car. Had to get home, drop off the dog and then head out for dinner. This would have put dinner off 'till after 8pm. A bit late for this family! Then my son suggested Firehouse Tavern. Why the hell didn't we think of it before! I don't know... Anyway, when we first went in we were struck by the great atmosphere. Just a cool Firehouse themed tavern. AND cool because the AC was cranked! On a humid 95 degree July evening, this was perfect! We got seated quickly and soon had some popcorn provided to get us going. The waitress was a sweetheart. You could tell by her actions, she was still new and in training, but she was polite, kind and did her job well and I'm sure will get better as she gains more experience. She did earn her full tip. Because we were first time patrons, she explained that technically, they didn't serve BBQ, they were a smokehouse. Though a few different BBQ sauces were provided at the table. I chose the vinegar based because I was looking for something lighter, it was amazing. I want to try all three to pick a favorite, so I guess that means at least a couple more visits. Shouldn't be a problem. My wife and I chose the beef brisket. I have been dieing for a good brisket ever since another favorite local small restaurant stopped serving food, Lil' Texas. The brisket was delicious. Now, perhaps my favorite part of the whole experience, the value. If I could, I'd rate the Firehouse Tavern six stars for value alone. With most of the chains reducing the portion sizes to save money, Firehouse's portions were generous. Not overwhelmingly huge, but there was plenty AND at a very reasonable price. We all brought some home for lunch the next day. I would say the brisket was about two thirds of what you'd pay for something similar at one of the chains, for less food! To top off the eventing, when we left, we were greeted by the cook as he was taking a break from the hot kitchen out in the parking lot. We thanked him for his wonderful food and promised to return.

Not only will we be back, we'll be bring family when they visit. Great food, great prices, cool atmosphere ALL A FIVE MINUTE WALK FROM HOME!! Jealous? You should be!

We dined here based on a friends recommendation and were very pleased. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We tried the Beef Brisket and it was so tender and flavorful. Why doesn't my brisket come out this good? There are different Barbecue sauces at the table and I tried them all- they were all good. Tho, I liked the North Carolina (i think that was the name) best. The mashed potatoes were very good and the cornbread was the best we ever had. We tried the fried pickle spears for our appetizer and while good the coating fell off when we cut into it. Oh, well we scooped it all onto our forks and ate every morsel !There are very pretty mirrors all over the walls and a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable and we are heading back again tomorrow!

Great new face in the area. I have tried most of items on menu. Good portions as well as taste. Prices are very good for what you get. Bar is also very well stocked.
