        The following email was sent through the Choice Hotels Int'l system regarding their Sleep Inn located in Brentwood, TN.

        Very unhappy with being charged for a night's stay on Conf # 379121204. I called same day to cancel this resv. because of winter storm Pandora. Was informed of 24 hr cancellation and no recourse. When you are driving and dodging a major winter storm, the last thing on your mind is to get resv. cancelled. I could understand the charge if I didn't call to cancel at all, but I did call and then checked back 2 times to talk to the Mgr who was never avail. Have never stayed at a Sleep Inn before & now won't. Industry standard for cancellation is 6 pm day of arrival so not expecting refusal of cancellation under extreme conditions. Thank you

        The response was verbatim: "Thank you for contacting Choice Hotels International.

        Your request will be researched, and you will receive a response from us within 72 hours."

        There was NO response within 72 hrs. I subsequently called Choice Hotels and was told they had to honor that hotel's decision not to refund . . . interesting, since the manager was never there to make that determination.
