Samuel Smith Elementary School

I was recently told by the lady in charge of the lunch room that the money parents pay for their child to eat breakfast and/or lunch is NOT carried over from previous years. My daughter had paid money in advance for my grandsons to eat breakfast during the before-care program due to her work schedule. It seemed we were constantly being told there was a "balance due". I personally paid the balance off more than once. Then the lady told us there was lunch money due. My daughter sent lunch to school with the boys every day. The final straw was when Christmas break was over and school started back. I dropped my grandsons off on my way to work as usual. I was then told by this same woman that the money from 2008 does not carry over to 2009. The woman finally told me she would add $2.00 back to the account only if I agreed to "keep it quiet as she would lose her job if I said anything"....??? I thought this was strange and I found this entire situation very disturbing as my daughter works very hard for her money as does most parents. I informed my daughter of this and she called and spoke to this woman. The next morning, I asked (politely) if the situation was resolved. The woman became very defensive and quite rude toward me because she claims she didn't appreciate the manner in which my daughter spoke to her. Something I have absolutely no control over. I tried to talk to the woman but seemed to get no where so I simply continued to prepare my grandsons breakfast so i myself could get to work. Suddenly the woman rudely informs me that my grandson was NOT allowed to have a juice if he was having milk on his cereal.....??? I asked her if she was serious? She said yes. I asked when that became a rule. She said it has always been a rule. I suggested something be posted as to what the children were allowed to have and what they weren't allowed to have. She stated she was not going to engage in an argument with me in front of the children. I feel her actions were very unprofessional and it is obvious she has now taken this personal against two small, innocent children. I see children everyday taking 2 milks, or 1 milk and a juice. I feel this is because of her conversation with my daughter and because she was confronted about the money we had paid in advance. So once again I informed my daughter of the situation and she called the woman and asked to speak to her supervisor. Not only was this woman rude and unprofessional, she refused to let my daughter speak to her supervisor and then told my daughter that my grandsons are no longer ALLOWED to eat breakfast in the mornings and she hung up on her. This matter is being pursued further. My daughter pays for the before and after care program. She pays for the breakfast and lunch program. We are members of this community and do not deserve to be treated is this manner. I would like to know if anyone else is having problems with their breakfast and lunch money disappearing like we are?
