As mentioned, nighttime DIY aligners only provide minimal tooth movement–if any at all. And though the company will use impressions of your teeth to craft your DIY aligners, it will forgo the panoramic X-rays that most orthodontists use to assess your pre-treatment dental health. If you try nighttime DIY aligners to straighten your teeth, first make sure you are current on your dental checkups to ensure there are no underlying issues with your teeth or gums.

Teeth Cleaning
No, using bleach on your aligners is not recommended. Bleach can damage the plastic material and cause it to weaken or become discolored. If you use bleach, it may also irritate your mouth and cause discomfort. Instead, use a gentle cleaning solution like a 50/50 mix of water and hydrogen peroxide or an over-the-counter retainer cleaner.

Remember, regular cleaning of your aligners, both daily and deep cleaning, is vital to maintaining their effectiveness and keeping them looking great throughout your treatment.

Dentures
Brush your removable appliance every day as a part of your regular brushing and flossing schedule. Because food particles and plaque can accumulate on your appliance just as they do on your teeth, soak the appliance daily. Dissolve a Polident, Efferdent or other denture-cleaning tablet in a glass of tap water at room temperature and soak your appliance once every day. Your appliance will taste better, and you will prevent plaque and bacterial accumulation.
